Dear Fellow Umpires,
The Eastern Suffolk Baseball Umpires Association Executive Board wishes you and your family a safe and healthy New Year. Yes it's getting to be that time of year strikes and outs is upon us. The year 2020 is a new decade and our season is about to get started.
This letter will provide you with much needed information for the start of the 2020 season. The Board is trying to cut down on some of the meetings, to try to make it a little easier for you to make your required amount of meetings. Just remember, this requirement is set by New York State, as part of your NYS certification. For instance, on Tuesday February 11, 2020, our interpretation meeting will actually be two meetings, the interpretation and junior high rules. As long as you attend both you will get credit for two meetings in the same night. This is what we are doing to make it easier for you to make your required meetings. So please, after reading this letter you will have the dates for all of our meetings. Mark the dates off on your calendar. The Board is trying very hard to make it easier for you to meet your obligations, however, be very clear, your obligation is to make your five meetings, and three of them are MANDATORY. We are aware that everyone is busy, but this is your responsibility.

I would like to say we are actively recruiting and I sent out our information to an Association called Battlefields to Ball fields that will recruit our most treasured American Veterans to become umpires. Also I would like all members to put themselves out and do more games at all levels.
NOTE FROM THE PRESIDENT:
Fellow umpires this time of year I start thinking about baseball and umpiring. It's also time to start thinking about your health. Try to get some walking in before the season starts. Remember we wear a lot of equipment, and to just start running around a baseball field puts a strain on your body. Check your uniforms, make sure they are in good shape. You only get one time to make a first impression.
I hope everyone has a great season and a lot of fun.
