Frosties take the ISA E Summer Heat Championship in impressive style

A hot summer day turned out to be a Frosty one as the Frosties disposed of the competition at Mill Dam in Huntington last Saturday going undefeated to win the ISA E Qualifier.

Game one saw the Frosties beat All Out by a score of 11-7.  A game the Frosties were in control from start to finish saw clusters of hot hitting put the Frosties on top.  A big stat line from Joe "Moose" Musalo with 3 RBIs and 2 SBs, 3 RBIs from Boom Boom Bruno, and a pinch-hit Kirk Gibson-esque blast from an injured CCD (fist pump and all) were the difference makers.

After a 90 minute break, the Frosties took on the Hot Rods.  Brian "Casino" Goerke quickly extinguished the Hot Rod offense which had put a number on the prior team.  The Frosties offense was led by George "the Animal" Eng, with a 3-run blast in the first and a total of 7 RBIs on the game.  Frosties win 12-6.

Another Bubba Burger and beer break (the way most Frosties keep warm during downtime) saw the Frosties in the semi-finals versus Mayhem with some familiar faces on the roster.  Brian "Casino" Goerke again held the bats in check.  George the Animal knocked in a pair.  Big Pete Apostolides came up with a big two-out, two-run single.  Clutch hits by Chris "PBJ" Catania and Gino "the Surgeon" Gaeta filled out the rest of the offense.  Frosties win 8-4.

After a final 90 minute break, the Frosties saw themselves playing the Hot Rods in the final.  Big Pete Delia rained on the prior game swatting BP homers over Mill Dam 4 disrupting the other semifinal putting the league officials, umps, and other teams in a bad mood.  Just the way the Frosties like it!  The Frosties bats finally kicked in like we're all used too.  A controlled game by the Frosties got out of hand with a big 11-run outburst in the bottom of the 4th.  The Hot Rods came back to save run-rule in the fifth.  This was of course spoiled by a two-run walk-off homer by Tom "the Chair" Frem.  Big performances by Coach Freddo with two big hits, Artie "Pants" Maisano with 3 hits and RBI, Big Pete Delia - who was hitting bullets all day long - with big hits of his own.  Tom "TK" Kalina had two big clutch hits and 2 RBIs.  Joe "Stats" Gonzalez had a perfect day at the plate and led the team in batting average for the day.  Ed Lebrun had a big hit and made all the plays at second.

Great day of softball indeed from the Frosties.  Another highlight for one of the toughest teams out there.  We were in control from the start of the day, rotated in 16 guys, and kept everything running smooth.

We move on to Wednesday for league softball versus the 495ers at Mitchel.  See you there!
