Jesse Garcia

 

    Jesse Garcia grew up in Robstown,Texas and graduated from Robstown HS in 1992. Jesse was the leadoff hitter for the nationally ranked powerhouse baseball program throughout his four years at  Robstown HS. He helped guide the Cottonpickers to three state final championship games in the state of texas and winning back to back titles in 1991 and 1992.  What Jesse believed in was that he wanted to be the best at whatever he was doing.. Hard work and dedication!

 

Baseball Career

1989 Hit 563 as a Freshmen helped leading the JV team to a 25-0 Record then being promoted to the Varsity Team

1990 All District 1st Team, All Metro 2nd Team as a Right Fielder all year

1990 as a Sophmore batting leadoff hit  .424 avg. and earning Newcomer of year award

1990 All district All Metro Newcomer of the Year Right Fielder

1991 as a Junior batting Leadoff hit .402 avg leading team in SB , Runs Scored

1991 All District 1st Team , All Metro 1st Team, All South Texas 1st Team

1991 Won 1st State Championship in school History

1992 as a Senior batting leadoff hit .469 led team in Stolen Bases, RBI, Runs scored, Doubles, Triples,

1992  All District 1st Team, All Metro 1st Team, All South Texas 1st Team,

1992  Team MVP, All District MVP, All Metro MVP, All South Texas MVP,

1992 All State 1st Team

1992 Won 2nd State Championship Back to Back

1992 State Championship Co-MVP

1992 Texas All Star South Team Representative game played in Astrodome

1993 attended Lee College and led team in 358 Avg. and stole 42 out of 43 bases led nation

1993 Drafted by Baltimore Orioles in 1993 Draft played till 2000 with team then Traded To Atlanta Braves

Jesse was 1st player to replace Cal Ripken Jr on 1st stint on DL

Played for Legendary Hall of Fame Coach Bobby Cox with Atlanta from 2001-2004 every year making the playoffs

Played for Legendary Hall of Fame Coach Bruce Bochy with San Diego 2005 making playoffs

Jesse retired from baseball career in 2009

Boxing Career

Jesse began boxing in Robstown Texas at the age of 8 yrs. old juggling boxing and baseball at the same time posting a 53-2 record in the ring... Fought Danny Romero when they were 12yrs. old ....Danny became  a World Champion

Was a fight away from fighing Hall of Fame Oscar De la Hoya  in the 1992 Olympic trials

Basketball Career

Jesse was a four year letterman on the Robstown HS Basketball Team

Freshman of the year in 1989

Sophomore year led team in points, steals, assists, 3-pointers .  1st team all district, 1st team all metro

Junior year led team in 23 ppg, steals, assists , 3-pointers 1st team all district, 1st team all metro, 1st team all south texas

Senior year led team in 28 ppg, steals, assists, 3-pointers, 1st team all district, 1st team all metro, 1st team all south texas

Jesse Finished his basketball career as the all time leader in points, steals, assists and 3-pointers in career at RHS

Jesse walked-on his Junior College Basketball Team
