Braveheart Spring Club Information and Schedule

Braveheart Spring Lacrosse Season

Spring Braveheart begins on Sunday, February 3rd and will continue on most Sunday and Wednesday nights through mid-May.

This is a new Spring Lacrosse season offering with competition for Elementary and Middle School Girls.

The Braveheart Spring Lacrosse Season for Elementary and Middle School girls starts on February 3, 2019 (right after January Winter Camp with College Coaches) and concludes on May 18, 2019.

On weeks when we don't have game days, we will generally train two days a week on Sundays and Wednesdays from 5 to 8 PM.  On weeks with game days, we will be training on Wednesdays from 5 to 8 PM.  We are expecting to have six to eight Sunday game days, most of which will be "home" games where we are inviting the best middle school and elementary clubs in the state to compete at our facility resulting in a per player cost far below that of travel and tournament lacrosse.  The middle school team will likely travel twice to Davenport, FL (Orlando).

Club vs. Rec – The Best of Both

Braveheart is a Regional Lacrosse Club.  As such it supports players from all over Southwest Florida whose parents and guardians want a level of instruction, culture, professionalism and overall program quality distinctly above that of recreational sports lacrosse:

  • No unstructured or inappropriate practices.  Instead: quick development of technical, tactical and decision making skills using fun, shaped play and a games approach.
  • No yelling at players, no negative coaching, no win-at-all-costs behaviors.  Instead: positive coaching; steady advancement through personal goals; stress-free evaluations, standards and feedback; and development of mental toughness, leadership and winning habits.
  • No displays of poor sportsmanship allowed by coaches, players or fans toward other coaches, players, fans or officials.  Instead: only traits and behaviors supporting the best practices for sports culture are allowed.
  • We use only professional coaches with a deep understanding of the game who teach skills, tactics and life lessons tailored to player age level, ability and maturity.

Recreational sports emphasize fun, learning and participation by all, whereas competitive sports for older, high level athletes focus on winning, performance and participation by the best.

“Fun, friendships, and fast!” describes the Braveheart player experience.  Winning comes naturally when you deliver a higher quality program that still emphasizes the recreational sport goals of fun, learning and participation by all.  You just need the right culture to nurture a team -- success quickly follows.

Why Lacrosse?

Most importantly: Lacrosse is Fun!  Most girls enjoy this fun, fast paced game; the sense of belonging to a team; and the lifelong friendships that result.

Lacrosse is a sport which develops cardio/vascular fitness, agility, stability, speed, strength, endurance, and hand/eye coordination.

Success at lacrosse is not size or build specific.

Lacrosse requires team work and learning how to be a good teammate.

Lacrosse develops and supports a strong work ethic and individual responsibility.

Lacrosse works on defining a vision, setting goals and achieving dreams.

Why Braveheart Lacrosse?

Braveheart Lacrosse is a positive, nurturing environment with experienced coaches and a strong belief in having the right culture.  We do not yell at or shame players or opponents.  As role models we teach, motivate, counsel, and encourage.  We are honest, positive people.  We have a strong focus on what youth sports are supposed to be.

Our primary rule supporting our culture is: Be a Good Person, then a Good Student and only then can you be a Great Athlete.  We stress 21 Traits of a Great Teammate.  As players gain experience, we seek to play strong, age-appropriate competition at every age level so that we improve as players; learn to win with grace; and on those rare occasions where we lose, lose with dignity without excuses or misplaced blame.  These are life lessons that have value well beyond the field of sport.

Braveheart Lacrosse is associated with the Barron Collier Girls Lacrosse program - a program which has over a decade of being a dominant Florida and national girls lacrosse powerhouse.  Braveheart has sent many young women on to play lacrosse in college, internationally and even professionally.
