After a successful and competitive 2023 season, the Cambria County American Legion Baseball League announced their Final Stat Leaders for the 2023 Season.  St. Michael won the regular season championship with a record of 9-3, and also claimed the playoff championship to advance to the Region 7 Tournament.  Third -place Bedford took second place in the playoff tournament and also advanced to the Region 7 Tournament.  Hitting leaders were Richland's Cole Strick with the highest average at .577 and most runs with 16, while Saint Michael's Tyler Orris led the circuit with 18 hits and a league best 5 doubles.  Hollidaysburg's Landon Perry and seven other players smacked home runs, while Bedford's Ben Gable and three other players led the league with two triples.  Saint Michael's Kirk Bearjar was the RBI king with 12 knocks.

On the pitching side, Richland's Ethan Kaminsky topped the circuit with a league best 0.56 ERA and also led the way with 25 strikeouts.  Saint Michael's Kaden Christ led all hurlers with 3 victories, while Hollidaysburg's Landon Perry and Richland's Jonah Horner topped all relievers with 2 saves each.  A list of league leaders for each category is available further down the page.

  St. Michael downed Bedford 7-4 Monday night to win the 2023 Cambria County Legion Championship.  St. Michael will now advance to the 2023 PA Region 7 Legion Tournament at Bald Eagle Area.  St. Michael earned their spot in the championship game via a sweep of Richland.  The Saints defeated Richland 9-7 Friday night to win their first round series and earn an automatic berth in the regional.  Meanwhile, Bedford will advance to the PA Region 7 Tournament as the Cambria County League's #2 seed.  Bedford defeated Hollidaysburg 2-1 in their first round series, rallying for victories in the final two games after falling behind 1-0.

- CCAL 2023

 

The 2023 Cambria County American Legion Baseball League Playoffs Got Underway July 6th with a pair of matchups.  Top Seed St. Michael upended 4th seeded Richland 8-0 behind a strong pitching performance by Andrew Miko.  Second seed Hollidaysburg rallied for a walk-off 8-7 victory over third seed Bedford that saw Hollidaysburg score five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning for the win. 

Playoff series resume today, and if necessary will continue on Saturday July 8th.  The one-game championship is scheduled for Monday July 10th.  Winners of both of the first round series will earn tickets to the 2023 Region 7 Tournament in Bald Eagle Area on July 15th.

After three weeks of baseball, the top four teams in the Cambria County American Legion Baseball League are just 1.5 games apart.  Hollidaysburg leads the league with a 5-0 record, while St. Michael is 5-1, Bedford 5-2, and Richland is 4-2.   A complete list of scores and updated standings is available on the results tab.  

New Year, New Season 2023

 

 

The 2023 Cambria County American Legion Baseball season gets underway this week with games all week long.  Six teams will vie for a berth in the Western Pa American Legion Baseball Region 7 Tournament in July.   This year's teams are defending league champion Bedford, playoff champion St. Michael, Claysburg, Hollidaysburg, Richland, and newcomer Nanty Glo.  Check back daily for score and standings updates.

The St. Michael Saints claimed the 2022 Cambria County American Legion Baseball League Playoff Championship Monday with a 4-3 win over Hollidaysburg.  Both teams will now advance to the PA ALB Region 7 Tournament in Bedford which begins on July 15th.  Read the story on this game at https://www.tribdem.com/sports/st-michael-edges-hollidaysburg-4-3-for-cambria-county-american-legion-league-title/article_4f047162-00da-11ed-8580-cb24b9a8b58f.html.

Hollidaysburg and St. Michael punched their tickets to the 2022 Pennsylvania ALB Region 7 Tournament at Bedford with playoff victories over the weekend.  Hollidaysburg mercied Northern Cambria 11-0 Friday to earn a berth in Monday's Cambria County Legion Championship on Monday, July 11th.  St. Michael also won via the mercy rule when they downed Somerset 12-1 on Saturday.  The two teams will now play Monday at Hollidaysburg for the playoff championship.  Regardless of the outcome, both teams will join Bedford as representatives of Cambria County in the Region 7 Tournament, which begins on July 15th in at Bedford High School.  The Region 7 Champion will earn a spot in the PA American Legion State Championship Tournament in Boyertown July 23-27. 

Hollidaysburg and St. Michael each won first round home playoff games Thursday.  Hollidaysburg upended Northern Cambria 6-3, while St. Michael downed Somerset 11-6.  Each team now goes on the the road for a game two matchup at Northern Cambria and Somerset respectively.  The best of three playoff series will continue on Saturday if either Northern Cambria or Somerset win today.  

  The 2022 Cambria County American Legion Baseball League Playoffs begin July 7th and run through July 12, 2022.  Four teams will compte for two spots in the PA ALB Region 7 Tournament at Bedford on July 15th.   Regular season champion Bedford will not participate in the playoffs, as the Hurricanes will host the Regional.  Regular season second-place finisher Hollidaysburg (Pictured, left, Nick Peterson) will be the 1 seed in the playoffs, and host fourth place seed Northern Cambria in a first-round matchup.

 

 

 

 

 

   The other playoff matchup will feature regular season third-place overall finisher and playoff second seed Saint Michael, taking on number three playoff seed Somerset.  (Pictured, Kirk Bearjar).   The Saints will battle Somerset for one of two spots in the final playoff round.  Claysburg and Richland were unable to participate in the 2022 playoff tournament due to a lack of players.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Bedford Hurricanes clinched the top spot in the Cambria County American Legion Baseball League with a record of 12-1-1, (excluding forfeits).  The Hurricanes will not participate in the Cambria County Legion playoffs because they receive an automatic bid to the ALB Region 7 Tournament as the host team.  The Region 7 Tournament will begin play on July 15th.  Cambria County will also send its two top playoff finishers to the tournament as well.   (Photo - Bedford's Christian Hinson raps a single.)
