Fundraising for the Carolina Pride
Pride player and Families:
As we push forward toward a full roster and full practices, we also need to focus on raising more funds for the program to support various things we do and need. Our costs per players help cover the basic costs, but there are other things we try and do and always need more money to help us do the extra items. This year is no different. There are two ways that we will focus on fundraising this year.
- Players selling items: We will again have dominos cards to sell this year. The desire is to have each player sell 10. They are $10 a piece and you get 19 buy one get one free pizzas until 12-31-19. Two pizzas and you get your money back. I will also have plenty to sell outside of that to any corporations and/or companies that might be able to provide those to their employees. If you know you can move some in bulk please let me know. I need help in moving the cards. We will have close to 800 cards and we get ALL of the proceeds as they are already paid for. That is $8000 for the program that would be greatly needed.
- We also have various specific events that I would love to have someone or some company sponsor this year. The company will get recognized for it. These items are as follows:
- Home Game on 9-28-18 against the Hickory Hawks - Cost is $1000 for field and Referees
- Home Game on 10-5-18 against Commonwealth Charter - Cost is $1000 for field and Referees.
- Home Game on 11-2-18 against Sandhill Titans - Cost is $1000 for field and Referees
- Annual Membership to HUDL - our video content subscription - $1000
- Road Trip to Columbia at Kennan High School for Bus 9-14-18 - Cost is $1250
- Equipment Fund - This fund need is about $5000. It is important to build this up so that we can make sure we have what we need consistently.
If you are interested in sponsoring any of the items above, know of any companies that we can sell Dominos cards to for their employees or know of companies/individuals that may just want to donate monies for the 501c3 non-profit that we are, please let me know. I would be glad to share any information about us and can definitely work with anyone to raise some monies.
Thanks so much and GO PRIDE!!!!

Practice/Registration - Monday Night
Monday July 9th is registration night. Please try to arrive by 6pm with all paperwork you can bring so we can make sure you have a spot on the team. Enjoy the 4th week! We will see you out there Monday night at the regular practice facility. Directions are listed on the website below this post.
Please remember: NO PARKING ON THE GRASS. ONLY PARK ALONG THE STREET OR IN THE PARKING LOT OF THE BUILDING NEXT TO THE FIELD. THANKS!
Carolina Pride Home Practice Field
Many have asked where we practice normally and so attached you will find our regular practice home starting Monday July 9th:
Carolina Pride Union West Practice Field
580A Union West Blvd, Matthews, NC 28104
Clicking on the map will show you the site location. If you are coming on Hwy 74 from Monroe it is simply to turn off the highway and turn into Union West Blvd. However, if you are coming from Charlotte you have two options with current construction:
1) take Hwy 74 to Indian Trail- Waxhaw road and make a U Turn and come back toward Charlotte to enter Union West Blvd.
2) Turn left at Stallings road off Hwy 74. About half a mile turn right on Sweet Birch Road. At first stop sign turn Right. Then Turn left on White Oak Lane, Then Turn Right on Cupped Oak Drive, left on Beltway Blvd and left on Union West and field is on the right. This will avoid the busy Hwy 74 and wait at the u turn.
The map will show the streets mentioned in #2 above and you can follow my lead through the map. See you there!
Key dates this summer for the Pride
The Pride is continuing their summer conditioning and we have seen many players come out so far. If you are interested in playing for the Pride, attending is becoming important so that we can make sure you have roster spot. Here some key dates coming up:
June 25th and 26th will be our final two June practices at Fred Kirby Park in Indian Trail. Once we are done with those two we will have the week of July 4th off and then return to practices on Monday and Tuesday Night from 6:30 to 8:30 but we will move to our normal home practice field at 580A Union West Blvd. Directions are on the front page of this website below. We will follow up with the best way to get there since construction is causing some access issues. Stay Tuned.
I need your registration packets to secure you a spot on the team. If physical is not done or money is not ready yet, I understand, but I need your packets. Please bring to practice. If I don't have them I will have to have them by Monday July 9th for you to continue to participate. Who is the Carolina Pride?
Take a listen to our athletic director Bryce Friesz and past head coach Mike Hawks tell you a little bit about who we are as an organization.
Thank You Mike Hawks. Welcome Jim Mallos
Dear Carolina Pride Family:
I am certain the rumor mill has been wide and strong so I will now clear those items up. Mike Hawks has been a great addition to the Carolina Pride family and the last two years have been nothing but fantastic under his leadership as head coach of the Carolina Pride. However, Mike received a wonderful opportunity to join the coaching staff of the Butler Bulldogs and he will be their new defensive coordinator in the upcoming season. I want to personally thank Mike for his partnership with me, his leadership of this team and the long tireless hours he gave to our organization, the kids that he has coached and all those around the program. He is a coach with a capital "C" and we will miss him but wish him the best at Butler.
With that said, the board of the Carolina Pride has been hard at work in finding a replacement for Mike, and we have done that will the hiring of Jim Mallos. Jim has been a previous coach with the Pride as an offensive coordinator for two years and his son played QB for us several years ago. Jim is very familiar with the organization and we are happy to have hired one of our own back in the fold. Jim has had a chance to run a couple of other smaller football programs in Charlotte and has been coaching football for close to 30 years. We welcome Jim in as head coach and are working hard to get the season started.
We will be having a players/parents meeting on Saturday April 21st at 10am. This will allow you to meet coach Mallos, to get information for the upcoming summer workout plans and the practice schedule starting later this summer. We have 11 games on the upcoming schedule and are excited about the 2018 season. We will have new registration packets available that day and they will also be put on the website after that meeting. A location will be announced as soon as we have that confirmed for the meeting.
Its time to start thinking football... CAROLINA PRIDE FOOTBALL!!! Please pay attention the website, facebook and emails. More information to come soon.

Pride wins NC State Championship 32-19 over Sandhill Titans
The Carolina Pride travelled to Fayetteville NC Friday night to play the Sandhill Titans in our final game of the year. The game was deemed as the NC Independent State Championship as both teams had played and won against all of the independent teams in the state. The Pride opened a little sluggish and Sandhill was able to complete two long TD passes to take an early 13-0 lead in the first quarter. The Pride finally answered with a TD pass to Von Brown late in the first and it was 13-7. Sandhill again scored in the second quarter and took a 19-7 lead. But that was the last time Sandhill would find points. The Pride defense made the adjustments with some great coaching decisions and it was the both sides of the ball that began to dominate. Von Brown scored again, this time on a 70 yard TD pass. Von would later in the quarter intercept a pass and take it inside the five yard line where Seth Graves found the end zone on a short pass from Nik Gangdahar and the Pride took at 21-19 lead into the half. The second half was dominated by a strong defense with Miles Stanton leading the way for 4 sacks and an offense that moved the ball and scored two more touchdowns to take a 32-19 lead into the fourth quarter. From there Denzell Orr took over running the ball and the clock. The Pride won a hard fought 32-19 game and finished the season winning 4 of their last 5 games in route to a 7-4 campaign. Dear Pride Family,
I would like to take a minute to speak to you about something other than football. (I know it is hard to believe) God has called me to serve, teach and coach others my entire life, whether as a Pastor, teacher or coach. He has called me to help and serve others. I now feel He is directing me to another endeavor that I am truly excited about. I have recently obtained my real estate license and has started as an independent contractor at Coldwell Bankers in the Arboretum office. God has now given me the opportunity to serve by helping place people into the home of their dreams.
If you are in need of an agent or know of a friend, family member or an acquaintance that requires assistance please contact me at 704-617-3398 or email me at email@example.com. Please feel free to visit my website coachsellscharlotte.com. Thank you for all your support this year and please give me an opportunity to return that support by helping you or someone you know or love find the home of their dreams
Last night's game is up on hudl. I had a couple of issues last night but they have been resolved. Therefore you can go watch the film. If you do not have a hudl account yet, use my username and password to view the film until we get you set up. My username is firstname.lastname@example.org and my password is vinniehank7733.

Weather Practice Policy
As is always the case once practice starts, people have questions about weather cancellations. Since the season has yet to official start with games, we also don't know who all will be on the team, so it is hard to send out text blasts or anything like that so the best way we can make sure we have something for you is to update the website if inclement weather is a potential. Football is a sport that can be played in the rain. Thunderstorms however will require the team to suspend or cancel practice and field conditions will also create the issue. The best way we can share information is through the website, so please check that if you have any questions. We will do our best to try and make a decision by 4:30 to 5pm each night, but just because it is raining where you are, don't assume practice is cancelled. Always check the website. If you don't see anything posted, practice is on. It will only be posted if we are cancelling. Thanks. GO PRIDE!!!
