HARDBALL BLACK FINISH THIRD IN SARASOTA TOURNAMENT

Details to come.

GIANTS EDGE HARDBALL BLACK

Hardball black lost a close one as they fell to the Giants 4-3.  It was a well played game on both sides.  Hardball Black relied on pitching by committee with an upcoming weekend tournament in Sarasota.  The committee comprised of Danny Castillo, Sebastian Bueno, Raul Rodriguez, Eddy Echeverria, Orlando Estevez & Mason Tejeda limited a potent Giants lineup to just 5 hits & 3 earned runs.  Unfortunately for Hardball Black their bats only came alive for three runs in the third inning leaving them one short of the Giants.  Orlando Estevez got the third inning started with a one out base hit to center.  This was followed by a double by Ricky Rodriguez driving in the first run for Hardball Black.  After a strike out for the second out of the inning, Sebastian Del Valle followed with a double of his own driving in Ricky Rodriguez with the tying run.  Sebastian Del Valle scored during the next at bat advancing to third on a wild pitch & scoring on the subsequent throwing error by the Giants catcher.  This would give Hardball Black a 3-2 lead they would unfortunately relinquish in the bottom of the third.  Next up for Hardball Black is the Sarasota Tournament where they hope their pitching will hold up as well as it did on this night.

COMMANDERS FORFEIT GAME TO HARDBALL BLACK

SOLID EFFORT LEADS HARDBALL BLACK TO VICTORY

A Strong Performance by Hardball Black propelled them to an 11-1 victory over Hardball White.  Orlando Estevez pitched a complete game for the victory.  He limited Hardball White to just one unearned run on three hits and striking out five over four innings.  He helped his cause by driving in and scoring a run going 1 for 2 at the plate.  Once again the offense was led by Mason Tejeda notching his fourth multi-hit game of the season, going 2 for 3 while driving in & scoring two runs.  Giovanni Vera drove in three runs while going 1 for 2.  Hardball Black will look to continue their winning ways next Saturday with their first game vs the Commanders.

LACK OF HITS & DEFENSE SINK HARDBALL BLACK

Any time a team has more errors than hits it is a recipe for disaster as Hardball Black lost 7-3 to the Tamiami Marlins.  Hardball Black committed 4 defensive errors while mustering only 3 hits on offense.  The pitching staff also allowed 6 Marlin hitters to reach via walk or hit by pitch.  The game was actually closer than you would think, based on those numbers.  Aggressive base running from Eddy Echeverria & Mason Tejeda accounted for two runs scored on one wild pitch in the third inning to hand Hardball Black a short lived 3-2 lead.  That would be it offensively for Hardball Black and the following two defensive innings really sealed the deal.  The players that accounted for the three hits were Mason Tejeda, Raul Rodriguez & Sebastian Bueno.

HARDBALL BLACK BOUNCE BACK WITH 8-3 WIN

Hardball Black defeated Hardball White with an overall solid effort to avoid a second straight loss having suffered their first defeat just two days earlier.  Hardball Black turned to Orlando Estevez on the mound who turned in another quality start to raise his record to 2-0 on the season.  Orlando went three innings allowing two hits and one run while striking out three batters.  After allowing the first three batters of the game to reach base, Orlando did not allow another base runner for the rest of his outing.  Sebastian Del Valle continued his hot hitting going 3 for 3 and scoring three runs, he joins Mason Tejeda as the two players sporting batting averages of .700 or above.  Mason Tejeda had his third multi-hit game of the season going 2 for 3 both scoring and driving in one run.  Closing out the multi-hit party on this day was Daniel Castillo who also went 2 for 3, bringing his season batting average to an even .500.  On a defensive note Giovanni Vera turned his second double play of this young season this time from third base with the original one coming from the catching position.

HARDBALL BLACK FALL TO KING SLUGGERS 13-3

A poor performance by Hardball Black leads to first loss of season.  Mistakes on both defense and offense and the hot bats of King Sluggers was just too much to overcome for Hardball Black.  Hardball Black committed 6 defensive errors and also gave up three outs on the base paths.  The King Sluggers belted 12 hits that were compounded with the six errors leading to 13 runs allowed by Hardball Black.  In a positive note Eddy Echeverria drove in two of the three runs for Hardball Black going 1-2 at the plate.  Hardball Black will try to get things back on track on Saturday when they face Hardball White.
