Trosky Baseball at Perfect Game World Series - Georgia

In July of 2018, Coach Smith took 30 of the best 15u and 16u players in the country to compete in the Perfect Game World Series outside of Atlanta, Georgia.  Only the top 20 teams/programs are invited annually to this event.  Both teams finished 5-2 and lost in the championship game of the silver bracket.  The 16u was led by Big Island players Maui Ahuna (Univ. of Kansas commit), Safea Muaui and Kalai Rosario (both University of Hawaii commits).  Maui was selected to play for Team USA after this event.  In a strange turn of events, the 16u had to play a game that lasted until 2:00 am EST in the deepest fog you have ever seen.  Overall great event, at any one time there were over 20 Division I coaches watching our games.

Players Moving On

In 2018 Coach Smith helped 12 players in the state of Hawaii move on and accomplish one of their goals in playing college baseball.  Schools included 4 year colleges in Oregon and California and junior colleges in Washington.  Proving again that if you put in the work, coach Smith has the passion to help your player get to the next level.  One early commit of JR Ritchie (freshman Bainbridge, WA) to Oregon State University.  JR has been working with Coach LC Smith for 3 years.  Also this year coach Smith has placed 2 players on mainland travel programs for the summer of 2019.  The key to Coach Smith's success in helping players is a consistent workout regiment, goal setting and logging of hours, proper video production and recommendations.  If you are interested in having your player evaluated contact Coach Smith today.

Islanders at Spring Training

March 20, 2018

The Islanders Baseball Club made their 4th straight pilgrimage to Major League Baseball Spring Training in Arizona this spring.  Traveling with a roster of 12 players, 3 coaches and several families it was another successful trip for the Islanders Ohana.  This year we participated in the Arizona USSSA Spring Training Classic, where over 40 teams from all over the US competed for the championship.  After a 2-1 finish in pool play the Islanders advanced to championship round and played outstanding overall with a 3rd place overall finish behind Team Easton who eliminated the Islanders.  The Islanders held a 2 run lead until the final out of the 7th inning when Team Easton could not be denied with a walk off hit to secure their spot in the finals.

While in Arizona the Islanders visited several major league parks and also had a private behind the ropes tour of the Texas Rangers Baseball Facility in Surprise AZ with free tickets to see the Rangers play.  Touring the locker rooms, weight room and all baseball facilities was a very special treat provided by Coach LC Smith.  Many former players of coach Smith came by to visit with the Islanders including Bryan Baker of the Colorado Rockies, Carson Sands of the Chicago Cubs that went bowling with our players while in town.

Special thanks to all of the sponsors and parents that made this trip possible for the Islanders Baseball Club.

Islanders Baseball partners with Trosky Baseball

Coach L.C. Smith has been networking with many National Baseball Organizations to promote players from Hawaii so that they can be seen by college and professional scouts.  Trosky baseball has brought Coach L.C. Smith on board as a National Team coach and scout to help promote local island players from all schools and teams.  This process began with our Winter Showcase that was held at Baldwin High School indoor in December.  Over 50 players attended and were scouted.  Coach Smith was able to secure scholarship offers from 5 different colleges to players from this lone event.  Most recently Coach Smith has teamed up with Kaha Wong of the Big Island Baseball Club to unite players to represent Hawaii this summer and fall at National Events across the country.

Ryley Widell - 2015 King Kekaulike HS, Minnesota Twins 7th Rd 2017 MLB Draft

Being from Hawaii, I didn't have a lot of exposure and knowledge for what it takes to be successful at the next level. Fortunately I met LC and he completely turned it around for me and is a big part in where I am now. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't understand the true dedication it takes to achieve your dreams, in and out of baseball. He's not only made me a better baseball player, but a better person. Day by day he will push you to better yourself, it's hard, but that's what it takes to be successful. He has been around the game for a long time so his knowledge is significant. His guidance and instruction is valued to push you towards your ultimate goal.  His lessons are sincere and cares for every individual that goes through him. I highly recommend LC Smith as a coach and instructor. His love for the game shows through his coaching and the constant stories he tells. It has always been a pleasure to be mentored by him. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me.

Aaron Barrett (the Bear) - MLB Washington Nationals RHP

I had the pleasure to work with LC Smith early in my minor league career and I saw how many doors he opened for young players. He helped me with my workouts and showed me the right way how to instruct kids. LC Smith has a passion for the game, but also has a passion to get the most of your kid in every aspect of life.

Mitchell Peterson - Stillman University/South Walton HS RHP

I have been coached under LC Smith for over three years. I have been blessed being able to be under his coaching both in tournament play and LC also being assistant coach to South Walton High School in my senior year. LC has been my first true instructor and coach. He has spent numerous hours with me one on one, building great fundamentals in my pitching, hitting, and fielding. He has challenged me and pushed me to a whole new level. He has taught me so much with my conditioning and even nutrition. he has taught me the mental toughness to compete, and succeed. Most importantly he has taught me Christian values and life skills. I was able to compete under coach LC with the Florida Mustangs at the age of 16. In just our first year as an elite team, he brought us to the national championship game for the WWBA Perfect Game in Marietta GA. I was able to pitch and play second in that game. This will be one of my greatest moments in my young baseball career. LC is smart, athletic and a Godly man that has taught me so much. LC Smith is "The Man".

Patrick Ervin - University of North Florida Infielder

There are a lot of people in the baseball industry who claim they are interested in helping young athletes achieve their goals of playing baseball at the college and professional levels. However, there are only a handful of people in the baseball industry who truly care about the welfare of the young athlete as a person and continue to voluntarily stay connected after the athlete commits to play college and/or professional baseball. L.C. Smith is one of these handful of people who truly cares about your son. He is honest and sincere while being very proactive in a highly competitive industry. When he says he is going to do something you can consider it done. There are few people like L.C. who love the game and the athletes who play the game enough to volunteer their time to evaluate players and provide exposure for those players to a vast network of college and professional scouts. This passion makes L.C. extremely instrumental during the critical exposure phase of the recruiting process.”

Trevor Stephan - University of Arkansas/New York Yankees RHP

November 19, 2013

My son Trevor played for Coach LC Smith this summer at a Perfect Game event in Florida.  We really didn't know what to expect, but it couldn't have been a better experience.
After the tournament, Coach Smith created an assessment and evaluation for my son for his online profile.  After this assessment, Trevor recruitment activity was outstanding (20 times the activity than Trevor's berecruited.com profile)  When Trevor verbally committed to Hill Junior College, I called the recruiting service (Fieldlevel) to downgrade and compliment their product, their representative told me to thank Coach Smith for the activity because his assessments are highly respected and he thought highly of your son.  I don't know what Coach Smith wrote because it is confidential, but we're very appreciative!
We've been a travel baseball family for a long time and our son is blessed to have an opportunity to play baseball beyond high school (we have seen a lot of good and bad coaches/teams).  Coach Smith's love of the game is easy to see and he's one of the really good guys we've came across on this journey.
I highly reccommend Coach Smith and feel free to call me directly with any questions.

Sincerely,
Bill Stephan
