Announcement: All Sports Cancelled-Fees Returning-New Season opens when able

Hello Lafayette Recreation,

With much sadness, I am announcing the cancellation of the Spring Soccer Season at Lafayette. The State Department of Health Services has ordered the prohibition of mass gatherings to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Many options were considered, but with so many ‘unknowns’, the decision was made to cancel the spring soccer season altogether. The safety and well-being of everybody is most important.

The leagues for our baseball and softball teams are also on an indefinite hold. Even our Tee Ball start date is in question.

With so much uncertainty, refunds will be made to ALL Spring Program registrants. This includes Soccer, Softball, Baseball and Tee Ball. Our online service has agreed to make refunds directly back to your credit cards. Unfortunately, they will not return their service fee for initial processing despite my numerous requests. A bulk refund request has now been submitted. They stated that the refunds will be made in the next 3-5 days. I am sorry about their decision and for their delay.

The plans for Lafayette Recreation are to set up all new seasons including Tee Ball, Softball, Baseball, and Fall Soccer once it is stated 'safe' to do so. I will announce the new open registration period at that point. I can make teams and schedule games on very short notice.

I hope to see everybody at the fields as soon as able. Until then, everybody, please take care.

LAFAYETTE--HAVE FUN AND LEARN THE FUNDAMENTALS

Have fun and learn the fundamentals—it’s really pretty simple here at Lafayette. We strive to offer a great place to introduce your child to the fun and exciting world of team sports. Our programs are specially designed to offer all kids a chance to learn and play organized youth sports. Games and practices are set up so players can learn and grow while having a good time with their friends and classmates. Coaching and competition is kept positive so kids are motivated to learn and work together—important assets for all youth as they grow and develop.

Parents can also have fun!  We cover concessions duties so parents can watch, cheer, or coach their kid’s team. You won't find mandatory $100 'concession shift deposits’ or ‘extra $50 non-worker fees’ here. Our concessions are run exclusively by youth where they can get a chance to learn job duties, work commitment, and customer service. So parents, you too can 'recreate' at Lafayette, a great place where you can enjoy coaching and cheering on the kids with friends and neighbors.

No matter which town or community you are from, all are welcome join us at Lafayette Parks & Recreation. Hope to see you on the fields soon!
