S.E.T. Hoops (Skills for Effective Training) was created in 2016 by Clinic Director, Bill Mitaritonna, who is a Manhasset resident, St. Mary's CYO Coach, and former Head Varsity Basketball Coach at Hills West HS from 2000-2017.

ALL CLINICS WERE RUN AT MANHASSET HIGH SCHOOL AND FUN WAS HAD BY ALL!

WEEK ONE: JULY 10^th -JULY 14^th 9:00am-1:00pm

We will focus on the fundamentals of Basketball for boys entering Grades 3-8 (as of Sept. 2017).  We will emphasize dribbling, passing, shooting, defense, and team play. A GREAT WEEK!!!

WEEK TWO: JULY 17^th - JULY 21^st 9:00am-1:00pm

We will focus on the fundamentals of offensive play for boys entering Grades 3-8 (as of Sept. 2017). We will emphasize correct shooting form and the development of offensive skills. Players will learn the correct way to shoot a basketball and get up 500-1,000 shots each during the week. WONDERFUL JOB BY ALL!!!

Our philosophy is to teach skills for effective training in a fun and safe setting.  Basketball is a wonderful game and Coach Mitaritonna believes in teaching the FUNdamentals- dribbling, passing, shooting, team defense, and team play.

At Hills West, Coach Mitaritonna won 234 games in 17 seasons as well as 4 Suffolk County Championships and 2 Long Island Championships.  22 of his players went on to play in college, most notably Detroit Pistons forward, Tobias Harris.  In 2010, Hills West HS was nationally ranked 18th in USA Today and Tobias Harris was named NYS player of the Year and to the McDonald's All-American team.  Coach Mitaritonna was named Newsday Long Island Coach of the Year in 2010 and was named Suffolk County Coach of the year 4 times by the Suffolk County Coaches Association. 

These clinics are designed to help players of all skill levels and have fun doing it. Coach Mitaritonna has run youth basketball clinics for St. Mary's CYO in Manhasset, clinics in the Half Hollow Hills school district, and at Pierce Day Camp in Roslyn since 2002.  Our staff is made up of basketball coaches and Varsity Basketball players who share a love for teaching the game of basketball.
