Tryouts will be held this fall for age groups 8U though 15/16U!

Tryouts scheduled for 9/22, 9/24 and 9/27  (rain dates: 9/28 and 9/29)

Montgomery Baseball League is excited to announce tryouts for our 2025 Travel Baseball Teams! Montgomery Travel Baseball offers an outstanding and competitive baseball experience on some of the best fields in all of New Jersey. It's also the only baseball experience where our youth players can compete side by side with their friends while representing our great community! Tryouts will be held at the McKnight Complex and will be scheduled around other fall sport schedules and events to ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate.

Each age group will have TWO tryouts. Attendance at ONE is mandatory and BOTH are recommended. Players eligible for more than ONE age group must declare their intention by the SECOND tryout date.

CAL RIPKEN (9U-12U)

8U (2nd grade or born between May 1, 2017 - April 30, 2018)

OTHER INFORMATION:

• All interested players are encouraged to attend both sessions to ensure fair and accurate skills assessments, but attendance at only one session is required for consideration.
• Players are eligible to tryout for a team of their age or, only if playing "with grade", one year older. Ages are determined by the Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth Age Chart (see link and more information on registration form)
• NO Travel Team gear (uniforms, hats, etc.) is to be worn at the tryouts.
• Tryouts will consist of batting, infield, and outfield drills. Candidates will be rated independently by coaches not affiliated with their targeted team.
• Overall candidate rankings will be based on tryout performance as well as prior-year Travel and Rec Manager/Coach player evaluations.
• Players who did not participate in Montgomery Baseball Rec and/or Travel programs last year will not be penalized; however greater emphasis will be placed on candidate performance at the tryouts.
• Players must register and play in the 2026 Spring Rec program.
• Additionally, all players must be in good financial standing with MBSL ($0 balance). If you still owe fees for prior travel/rec seasons, please pay via TeamSnap invoice or send the outstanding amount via check to Montgomery Baseball League, PO Box 431, Belle Mead, NJ 08502. 
• Players will be chosen by the Travel Team Selection Committee following the completion of the tryouts. Selected players will be notified in October and team rosters will be published shortly thereafter. 
• Teams will participate in optional winter workouts February/March 2025 and can expect to play a spring travel season (league format with playoffs or tournaments) as well as summer tournaments; eligible teams may also represent Montgomery in official Cal Ripken or Babe Ruth district tournament play.
• Although 2026 fees have not been established, all players can expect to pay ~$180 for a uniform; ~$300 for optional winter workouts; ~$275 for spring travel fees; ~$375 for summer travel fees. These fees are very competitive with neighboring community programs and dramatically less than club baseball programs.
• 75% player participation level required for both Spring and Summer, roster size expansion, minimum number of tournaments/games, Cooperstown, etc. (further details are listed in the handbook on the website).
