Final week of the 2023 Kiwanis Soccer season - PLEASE READ ALL

It's sad to say, but we are in the final week of the 2023 Kiwanis Soccer season. It's been a great season and we hope that everyone has enjoyed it so far! Our final games will be played on Saturday, 9/30. We just wanted to note a few things and promote some events happening this week/weekend. Please be sure to read this email in full:

Game schedule modifications for Saturday, 9/30
  • In an effort to finish up our games so that families can go enjoy the Homecoming games at the Voorheesville High School, we will be modifying our game schedule slightly.
    • PreWee Games - 9AM - 9:40AM
    • PeeWee Games - 10AM - 10:40AM
    • Juniors Games - 11AM - 12PM
    • Seniors Games - 12:15PM - 1:15PM
  • This will likely cause some parking issues, so please be patient and follow the parking rules that have been discussed multiple times and are mentioned further down in this email.

Homecoming weekend events at Voorheesville High School
  • Saturday, 9/30
    • Volleyfest Volleyball tournament @ 8AM
    • Varsity Football game @ 1PM
    • Varsity Boys Soccer game @ 5PM
    • Varsity Girls Soccer game @ 7PM (under the lights!)
    • Fireworks show @ 9PM (or after the girls game ends)
  • Put on your Voorheesville gear/colors and go support our teams throughout the day!!

Homecoming Soccer Games with Kiwanis Soccer
  • Don't forget to sign up to have your player participate in the Homecoming Games on Saturday. It's a yearly tradition for our Kiwanis Soccer players to walk out with the Varsity Boys and Girls teams before their game. We also play a halftime scrimmage on the Varsity field!
  • We would like to get as many players as possible to participate with us. We specifically need more players to participate in the boys game.
  • Either way, if you are interested in participating, please complete the sign up genius linked below:

Raffle tickets for Homecoming Soccer game prizes
  • Don't forget about the Voorheesville Soccer Booster raffle tickets! This is your chance to win some amazing prizes when the names are drawn at the Homecoming game.
  • All proceeds benefit the Voorheesville Soccer program.
  • Stop by the snack shack today or tomorrow between 6PM-7PM to get your tickets. Cash is preferred, but if you are going to send a Venmo payment, we ask that you please come to the snack shack to do it because we still need to give you a raffle ticket.

Housekeeping
  • Lately, we have noticed a lot of trash littered on the school grounds. In particular, we see a lot of wrappers from items available at the snack shack and tops cut off from the freeze pops. Please remember that we are allowed to use the school's facilities if we are respectful of their property. Coaches, spectators, and players should not be leaving trash on the ground for others to clean up. If you do end up seeing trash on the ground, please pick it up and dispose of it properly.
  • When parking for your game, please do not park on Altamont Ave, Route 85A, or in the small parking lot near the basketball courts. Please utilize the extra parking over at St. Matthews Church and then walk over to your game.

End of Year Gifts for Players
  • As a thank you for joining us this season, New Scotland Kiwanis will be giving each player an end of year gift. Kiwanis Representatives will supply these gifts to the coaches of each team so that they can hand them out after their last game on Saturday.
  • The gift will be a small soccer ball that teammates can sign and serve as a reminder of an awesome season with new friends.

Lost and found items
  • If you have misplaced something throughout the soccer season, please check out the lost and found items in the snack shack to see if someone found your item.
  • We keep all of the lost and found items in the left window of the snack shack.

As always, thank you to everyone for joining us this season and for making it a successful year! Enjoy the final games and be sure to check out the various community events!

The 2023 Kiwanis Soccer Season is ALMOST HERE!!

We wanted to provide an update on our progress for making this season a great one. All coaches have been assigned, teams were created, rosters are finalized, and the shirts are ordered. Only thing left is to get the soccer fields ready and then enjoy watching the kids play some soccer!

You may have already received an introductory email from your players coach. If you haven't, please give them a few days to get that out. All of our coaches are community volunteers who have graciously given their time to coach this year. If you don't hear anything by Monday, please reach out to us and let us know. It will be the coaches responsibility to set up practices before the season starts, so please allow the coaches some time to pick practice days, etc.

Here are a few notes regarding the upcoming season. Some of these have already been mentioned, but reminders are always good:
  • Important Events have been added to the calendar on the Kiwanis Soccer website. You can check them out by viewing the upcoming events section of the homepage or by choosing Schedules at the top and selecting Calendar
    • Our season begins on Saturday, August 19th and ends on Saturday, 9/30. For Opening Day, we hope to have several community organizations and businesses joining us for a fun filled day.
    • Unless otherwise noted on the calendar, the season schedule for games is:
      • Pre-Wee Division - 6PM on Mondays and 9AM on Saturdays
      • Pee-Wee Division - 6PM on Tuesdays and 10:30AM on Saturdays
      • Juniors Division - 6PM on Wednesdays and 12PM on Saturdays
      • Seniors Division - 6PM on Thursdays and 1:30PM on Saturdays
      • Please be aware that there are some days where Divisions swap or there are no games due to scheduling conflicts. It is important to check the website for an accurate calendar of events.
  • Individual Team schedules have been created!! You can head over to the Kiwanis Soccer website by clicking HERE. Once there, simply choose the division and team name to see your team's schedule.
    • You will notice that teams have SNACK SHACK DUTY on their schedules. When your team is scheduled for snack shack duty, your coach will be asking for a volunteer to help in the snack shack. Please consider helping!
  • When attending practices, or even when the season starts, please remember to park in the lot across the bridge. Do not park in the small lot near the school or in front of the school where the buses are.
  • Cleats and shin guards are REQUIRED for every player in every division.
  • Be sure to follow us on Facebook for all New Scotland Kiwanis events, updates, and news. We also post important season information, game cancellations, postponements, etc.

Please reach out to us if you ever have any questions or concerns related to the season! We look forward to starting our season on 8/19!
