January 7, 2018

Welcome back!  I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday break.

The first game of the night had the first place Blue team taking on the Red team.  This one got underway quick when Teagan Feltz opened the scoring for Blue on the first shot of the game, Feltz added another near the end of the frame.  Red was able to bring it back to within one, with 3 seconds left Niki Galioto scored.  Nikki Gagnon scored early in the second to give Blue the extended lead again.  49 seconds left in the middle frame and Alexis Lemmex scored to narrow the gap for Red.  Feltz potted her 3rd of the night to give her the hat-trick early in the third and again give Blue a 2 goal lead.  Red battled and Lemmex scored her second of the night, again bringing them to within 1.  In the dying seconds of the game Amanda White was pulled for the extra attacker and Taryn Betson found the back of the net to tie the game with 3 seconds left.  This wild ride ends in a 4-4 tie.

The second game of the night saw the Orange team facing White.  Orange opened the scoreing with a goal from Sheena Hummel.  Orange carried their lead into the second where both teams battled hard and had their chances but both goalies would stand their ground and turn away everything they faced in the period.  Late into the third Hummel scored her second of the night to give Orange the insurance marker.  Orange wasn't done yet, Meghan Bonnah added another goal to seal the deal as Orange takes it 3-0, Heather Thomas gets the shutout.

December 17, 2017

The first game of the night had the Orange team taking on the short bench of the Red team.  The first period saw a bit of action at both ends but it wouldn't be until midway thru the second that Allison Rich would open the scoring for the Red team.  Red team did a good job playing a defensive positional game to keep Orange at bay, with only 5 players.  Rich potted her second midway thru the third to give Red the insurance marker.  Amanda White picks up the shutout as Red takes it 2-0.

The second game of the night saw the White team facing the Blue team.  The first period saw action at both ends with both goalies shutting the door.  White opened the scoring in the second with a goal from Desiree Boucher.  Blue would tie it up before the end of the frame with a goal from Teagan Feltz.  Feltz scored her second goal midway thru the period, 30 seconds later Taylor Davis would score in her own net on a clearing attempt, Dyane Brunton was credited for the goal.  Vanessa Miller would put the last Nail in White's coffin as Blue goes on to win it 4-1.

December 10, 2017

The first game of the night saw the Orange team taking on the Blue team.  Blue opened the scoring with a goal from Courtney Rickard, Rox Poirier added another before the end of the frame.  The second brought more of the same, Teagan Feltz scored a hat trick to extend Blue's lead.  Vanessa Miller scored early in the third for Blue, Orange fought back with a goal from Sheena Hummel.  Feltz potted her 4th on the night to cruise to a 7-1 win over Orange.

The second game of the night had the White team battling Red.  The first period was a lot of back and forth with both defensive sides keeping the puck away from their nets.  It wasn't until the second when Taylor Davis scored to give White the lead.  Red would answer back with a goal from Allison Rich with 7 seconds left in the period to tie it up.  The third period both goalies turned away all the shots they faced to leave this one in a 1-1 tie.

December 3, 2017

The first game of the night had the Orange team taking on the White team.  Orange got their legs moving right off the hop and jumped out to a quick lead with a goal from Kelsey Cobb.  White found their groove and tied it up before the period was over, Taylor Davis got them back in it.  The second period saw chances at both ends but both goalies shut the doors.  Late in the third period this one was looking like it was going to end in a tie as both goalies were turning away everything, but with 40 seconds left in the game Paige Davis scored the game winning goal for Orange as they take it 2-1.

The second game of the night saw the Red team battling the first place Blue team.  Red opened the scoring with a breakaway goal from Allison Rich.  Blue pressured back, even ringing a shot off the crossbar, it wouldn't be until midway thru the second when Teagan Feltz broke free and snuck one in to tie it up.  Early in the third period Alexis Lemmex scored to give Red the lead again.  Red got into some trouble halfway thru the frame when they took 2 penalties and Blue went on a 2-man advantage.  Red team was able to box out Blue and keep the puck out of the net to hang on for the win.

November 26, 2017

The first game of the night had the White team taking on the Blue team.  Gillian Gobbo opened the scoring midway thru the first period for Blue.  White battled but couldn't get anything going.  Teagen Feltz scored 3 back to back goals in the second and Vanessa Miller added 1.  The third brought more of the same as Hannah Hansen added 2 of her own to give Blue a 7-0 blowout over White.

The second game of the night saw the Red team battling the Orange team.  The first period was a pretty even match up with both teams digging deep.  Sheena Hummel opened the scoring early in the second for Orange, and Jennifer Moore added anther shortly after.  30 seconds later Allison Rich scored to bring Red to within one.  Hummel added her second of the night to give Orange the 2 goal lead again.  Rich potted her second of the game late in the frame to again bring Red to within one.  Into the third and Jenny Peplinski sealed the deal for Orange as they would go onto win 4-2.

November 19, 2017

The first game of the night saw the White team taking on the Red team.  Allison Rich opened the scoring for the Red team early in the game.  White team answered back in the second frame with a goal from Wilma Schweitzer then the go ahead goal from Danielle Magnusson.  Pressure by the Red team in the third paid off with the tying goal from Taryn Betson.  A couple late chances by both teams but this one ends in a 2-2 tie.

The second game  of the night had the Blue team vs. the Orange team.  For over half of the game this one belonged to the goalies as they stood tall and turned away all the shots they faced.  Lindsay Hummel, in her first game of the season, opened the scoring for Orange.  15 seconds later Jenny Peplinski scored to put Orange up by 2.  Courtney Rickard potted one late in the frame to bring Blue within one heading into the third.  Peplinski cushioned Orange's lead with her second of the night to give Orange a 3-1 win over Blue.

November 12, 2017

The first game of the night had the Red team taking on the first place Blue team.  This speedy tilt started out with a fairly even back and forth effort from both teams.  Blue team jumped out to an early lead as Teagan Feltz scored 2 goals late in the frame, the second of which was a buzzer beater with 1 second left.  Red team rallied in the middle frame to keep Blue at bay and despite their chances they could get one past Katie Steeves.  The third brought more of the same great back and forth efforts from both teams, Dee Horning added an extra goal for Blue late in the game to give them a 3-0 win over Red, Steeves picked up the shutout.

The second game of the night saw the Orange team facing the White team.  Sarah Major opened the scoring for Orange late in the first period.  White battled back in the second and Danielle Magnusson scored to knot the game at 1 a piece heading into the third.  Shelby Maynard-Martin gave White the go ahead goal early in the third for the White team, Orange team pressured but were shutdown.  Taylor Davis gave White the insurance marker late in the game as White takes it 3-1.

November 5, 2017

The first game of the night had the Orange team facing the Red team.  This game goes to the goalies!  Lots of back and forth action with lots of scoring chanced at both ends.  Despite the many chances no one could figure out how to beat the goalies as this one ends in a 0-0 shutout draw.

The second game of the night saw the Blue team taking in the White team.  Both teams had their share of chances in the first, but both goalies stood tall and turned away all the shots they faced.  It wasn't until the second when Blue opened the scoring with a goal from Teagan Feltz.  Wilma Schweitzer would tie it up for White before the end of the frame.  Midway thru the third Feltz potted her second of the game to give Blue the lead again.  White's persistence paid off when Desiree Boucher managed to tie the game late in the period.  With the clock winding down Megan Cruickshank managed to scored the game winning goal with 33 seconds left to give Blue a 3-2 win.

October 29, 2017

The first game of the night saw the Blue team playing host to Orange.  Jenny Peplinski opened the scoring for the Orange team and they would take that lead into the second period.  Halfway thru the frame Dee Horning scored to tie the game.  2 minutes later Meghan Bonnah found the back of the net to give Orange the lead again.  Then in the last 30 second of the period Teagan Feltz scored two quick goals to give Blue a 1 goal lead heading to the third.  Dyane Brunton scored early to give Blue the insurance marker and Megan Cruickshank added the extra cushion as Blue came back to win this one 5-2.

The second game of the night had the Red team facing the White team.  The first two periods of this game saw both goalies showing off their stuff, turning away everything they saw.  After all the back and forth it would be Mel Cross scoring for Red with less than 4 minutes left in regulation.  Red didn't get to celebrate long as Sarah McLeod scored 20 seconds later to tie it back up.  It came down to the wire but with 30 seconds left it was Carrie Long who managed to sneak one past Keri Porier to give Red the win over White 2-1.

October 22, 2017

The first game of the night had the Orange team battling the White team.  White got on the board with the first shot of the game from Danielle Magnusson.  Sydney Kenyon added another for White midway thru the second.  Orange rallied before the period would end, Sheena Hummel and Jenny Peplinski scored with 20 seconds left to tie the game headed to the third.  Wilma Schweitzer gave White the lead and Magnusson added the insurance marker.  Tammi Hummel would score late in the game to bring Orange back to within one but it was a little too late as White would hang on to win it 4-3.

The second game of the night saw the Red team facing the undefeated Blue team.  After lots of back and forth Taryn Betson scored to give Red the lead and their first goal of the season.  The second period saw more battles and chances at both ends but both goalies stood tall to keep the frame scoreless.  Mel Cross scored to put this one out of reach for the Blue team, Red shut out Blue 2-0.

October 15, 2017

The first game of the night had the White team taking on the Blue team.  Blue opening the scoring 47 second into the game with a goal from Courtney Rickard.  Teagan Feltz, Vanessa Miller and Kate Burns would all score within 1:09 of each other before the period was out.  The second period saw White battling hard but it would be Nikki Gagnon with the lone goal in the frame for Blue.  Gagnon added her second of the night in the third as well as Rox Poirier in the dying second to give Blue a 7-0 win.

The second game of the night was Orange vs Red.  This back and forth tilt had both goalies turning away shot after shot, both teams kept the pressure on.  Midway thru the second Sheena Hummel would score on a wide open net, to give Orange the lead.  Despite their efforts and a shot that rang off the far post late in the game Red wasn't able to put anything past Heather Thomas who held on for the shutout, Orange takes it 1-0.

October 1, 2017

Welcome back to Women's Hockey in Powassan.  It was a fast paced first night as everyone seemed to work out the off season rust in a hurry!  The first game of the night saw the White team taking on the Red team.  Right from the first puck drop both teams battled back and forth with lots of pressure at both ends, and both goalies standing tall.  Midway thru the first Sarah McLeod-Greig scored for the White team, in what would turn out to be the game winner.  White takes it 1-0.

The second game of the night had the Blue team facing Orange.  Speed was the talk of this game!  Both sides having some quick young legs.  Scoreless in the first Blue would jump out to an early second period lead with a goal from Teagan Feltz.  Two minutes later Vanessa Miller potter her first of the season to give Blue the insurance marker.  Feltz would go on to add another before the period was out and then topped it off with another in the third to give her the first hatty of the season.  Blue sped off to a 4-0 win.

Welcome to the 2017/2018 hockey season!!!

Teams and schedules have been emailed out to everyone and posted here on the website.  We hit the ice this Sunday October 1 starting with Red vs White at 7:30 then Orange vs Blue at 8:30.  Looking forward to seeing everyone out and hope you all have a fun and enjoyable season!
