Inclement Weather Reminder Please read and follow for everyone's safety. With the recent severe weather that's been rolling through the area, the Winfield Rec Council would like to remind all coaches and parents of the Carroll County Dept of Rec and Parks policy on thunderstorms and hot weather and how it applies to games and practices.

Thunder and Lightning Once lightning is observed or thunder is heard during outdoor recreation council activities, all athletic fields must be cleared for a period of 20 minutes.  If lightning is observed (or thunder heard) again, the 20 minute period of cleared fields starts over. Fields cleared means go to your car.   Extreme Heat Approximately 30 minues prior to the start of the activity, temperature and heat index readings should be taken at the site or from www.weather.com or a comparable source  Recommended guidelines for coaches and program leaders and volunteers to follow with regards to Department sponsored youth activities can be found are to be followed.
