HISTORY OF THE THUNDER BAY WOMENS SOCCER CLUB

Women's Soccer began in Thunder Bay in the summer of 1981. In the spring of 2014, the TBWSC was presented with the Ontario Soccer Association's Centre Circle Award. This Meritorious Service Award (Club) is presented to a Soccer Club which by its existence and operations has made significant contribution to the development of the game of soccer and has enhanced the quality of life in its community for a period of ten years or more.

From the OSA:

Thunder Bay Women's Soccer Club

Started in 1981, the Thunder Bay Women's Soccer Club has made a significant contribution to the game of soccer in Thunder Bay not only on the field but off it as well. Its members have worked with local charities to donate spots in its leagues to families who are unable to pay for registration and children's fees. This dedicated board of volunteers have been instrumental in the growth of women's soccer in providing many players of all levels an opportunity to play soccer in the region. They have become a cornerstone in the community by striving to promote the growth of women's soccer and encouraging individuals to reach their potential through education and skill development. As a club, they foster fun, fitness, and friendship - three things clubs in Ontario hold dear.
