About CSSE

CSSE was established in 2002 to service the needs of top level players in Manitoba, providing them with additional training to raise their level of play to a higher standard. CSSE runs on a full-time basis, provides year-round programs, and is one of relatively few soccer schools that exist outside the jurisdiction of the five clubs in Winnipeg. This longevity and non-partisanship thrives on flexible program design and responsiveness to needs of parents and players.

The primary strength of CSSE is the quality of their professional coaching staff. The President, Victor “Chico’ Andrade, is a former Provincial Team Coach and holds his National “B” License from Canada. Chico also played professional soccer in Winnipeg for the Winnipeg Fury. Chico is presently working towards his National “A” license.

The other coaches that work for CSSE are all certified at a minimum Pre B License with several of the staff holding Provincial “B”’s. All coaches and coaches assistants will have their Respect in Sport Certificate and be CPIC and CAR cleared each year. (Police and Child Abuse check)

Mission

Our mission is to teach our students the elements of soccer. We believe that soccer players not only need to develop their shooting, controlling and dribbling skills, but also their game skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, nutrition, as well as “rules of play”.

Vision

Our vision is that all children love the game and they can achieve their full potential as competitive soccer players.

Philosophy of the School

At Chico’s School of Soccer Excellence (CSSE), we believe that our main responsibility as coaches is to help in the growth of student athletes. The primary purpose of our athletic program is to help our students become better people through their athletic endeavors. The principal goal of our soccer program is to help our students become better citizens by developing their skills in the areas of: Responsibility, Team Work, Discipline, Priorities, Respect, Self Control, Pride and Community Service.

We do not believe in “to give 110%”. We do not believe that there is such a thing as 110%. We must give 100% and be proud we give it all. Players only have 100% and that is what we expect of them. We also do not believe in a “win at all cost mentality”. We cannot always win, but we can always be a winner and our job is to help our students become winners. Success is not reflected on the scoreboard at the end of the match, but is reflected on the hard work, honesty and the desire the students put forward on making themselves better.

Philosophy of the Team Program

1. Identify talented youth players with long-term potential for professional careers or careers at U.S. or Canadian universities;
2. Develop and nurture youth players through a training regime of three-four sessions per week and one game;
3. Provide a holistic approach by focusing on the development of individual athletes through technical, tactical, physical, psychological, and mental training. Theoretical components include nutrition, hydration, goal-setting, game strategy, and injury prevention;
4. Foster a positive training environment that maximizes athletic potential by employing constructive feedback mechanisms including formal evaluation, fitness testing and benchmarking individual and organization training outcomes;
and
5. Increase the technical and tactical proficiency of individual youth players as a means to build confidence in their athletic ability and raise their self-esteem.
