The following BACKGROUND CHECKS are REQUIRED for ALL HEAD & ASSISTANT COACHES per PA Act 153 of 2014:

Child Abuse History Clearance (PA Department of Human Services)

Criminal History Record Check (Pennsylvania State Police)

FBI Clearance (only required if NOT a continuous resident of PA for last 10 years)**

**fingerprint-based background check is a multi-step process which takes 3-5 weeks to complete.  The service code for volunteers at pre-registration is 1KG6ZJ

Most school employees already have these required clearances.

There are no costs for volunteers associated with the state clearances.  There may be a cost associated with the FBI clearance.

New clearances for Volunteers should be good for 5 years.  Current clearances are only as good for as long as indicated on the clearance report.

THESE CLEARANCES ARE REQUIRED BY STATE LAW
