HARDCORE TITLE CONTEST
For those lacking WWE pop-culture:
The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) had a hardcore wrestling championship defended in WWE (formerly the World Wrestling Federation)
and was contested under "hardcore" rules, meaning there were no disqualifications, no count outs, and pin falls could be counted anywhere.
In the latter part of the title's history another rule was implemented which allowed for anyone to challenge the champion
at any time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, provided there was a referee present (dubbed the "24/7" rule).
The New Castle Dek Hockey Hardcore Championship is also defended 24/7.
The task:
Take a photo of the New Castle Dek Hardcore Championship being decided!
Anyone can challenge for the championship at any time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, provided there is a referee present.
A Hardcore Championship match can break out ANYWHERE.
Requirements:
One photo that is staged or live action, but not photoshopped.
Three people, one of the three people is dressed as a referee, and one orange ball.
Three certificates for half off league registration.
Deadline: July 4
Entries will be posted on the website, so be reminded that this is a YMCA website viewed by families and children.
Keep it tasteful, make it fun, be creative, stay safe and nothing illegal.
All submissions will be accepted. If it is not appropriate, we won’t post it, but would still like to see it. We are funny that way.
Email them to Jason....

EXAMPLE:
Hardcore Title Match broke out at the West Middlesex Community Pool over the weekend....
Lifeguards chased two dek hockey players off the the pool deck
while an offical oversaw things from the guard stand.

HAPPY JULY 4TH
New for 2011
Changes to Rules in 2011:
1. Shoot-out rules: Each team names three shooters. If the game remains tied after the three shooters are done, teams continue shooting in "sudden death" mode. The game cannot end until each team has taken the same number of shots. Shooters may repeat themselves after the designated number: Roller = 4 shooters, Footer = 5 shooters. Captains my reset their shooters in any order and repeat once again after the designated number of shooters have gone.
2. Captains sign game sheets after games and verify scorers and stats. Additions / corrections will not be done later.
3. Players can be waved out for a false draw or encroachment. If 3 players are waived out, on the same team, on the same drop: delay of game penalty.
(NHL is on the second when the penalty occurs.)
4. Players receiving a game misconduct or match penalty may remain on the bench as long as they remain orderly.
Players that are instructed by rink officials, in order to preserve order during the game,
to leave the premises will be required to exit the YMCA fenced-in facility area to the parking lot for the duration of the game.
Failure to do so within 2 minutes will result in a forfeit for the team of the offending player and make that player subject to additional suspension of games/season.
All actions taken by the removed player will be taken into consideration for additional suspension time.
5. The blue mats and the front of the players benches are "in play" and ball contact with them will not stop play as long as the ball remains on the playing surface.

Communication
After two separate issues at the rink last night,
the following will provide information on how to handle call-offs and the threat of inclement weather.
Situation 1: Not showing up because of not enough players
It is understandable that from time to time that you may be unable to field
enough players to have a full team ready for your game.
If this situation were to become evident, please let someone know early in the day.
(A 30 minute notice that a team is not showing up, is not what is expected.)
The game could be re-scheduled or the game could be forfeited.
Either way, the staff and the other team can plan accordingly.
Situation 2: Cancelling your own game
Outdoor recreation in western Pennsylvania is always at the mercy of mother nature.
The staff monitors the weather hours before and leading up to all games.
(Do not just assume that we are cancelling and fail to show up)
We post any cancellations 90 minutes before your scheduled contest.
If the ALERT banner is not on the website, your game is still on.
Resolution: Communication
Contact the rink and management
1. Monday thru Friday during daytime business hours: Jason Kmick at the Downtown YMCA - (724) 658-4766
2. Post a message. The management and staff monitor the message board.
If you post something on there, you will get a response.
Make sure you leave a contact phone number, so we can reach you directly.
(The post will be deleted shortly thereafter, since it has your personal information displayed.)
*Unofficially: Ask Ryan Macri and Scott Brubaker for their cell numbers. One of them is always at the rink.
Lastly:
The staff and management work hard to keep teams informed
of what is going on at the rink with the weather and scheduling updates.
When in doubt, get something on the Message Board.
It is the fastest way to resolve any scheduling issue or weather concern you may have.
Thank you for your time with these matters.
