    Most Holes-in-one trophy winner 1998, 2004
M.C. Mini Masters Match Play Invitational champion 2017, 2018

    Age: 46
    Occupation: Professor/author/DJ
Mini golfing experience: Lots. Mick has played miniature golf courses in 39 states (AL, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, HI, ID, IL, IN, IA, KY, LA, ME, MA, MI (both peninsulas), MN, MS, MO, MT, NH, NM, NY, NC, ND, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, VT, VA, WA, WI, & WY) and two foreign countries (Bermuda [so, the UK] and Canada). In 1997, he established the MC Mini Masters, and has watched it grow beyond his wildest dreams from 13 measly competitors to the hullabaloo it has become. Mick has 25 top-five finishes in the tournament in 26 years, including eight runner-up years (2000, 2001, 2006, 2009, 2013, 2017, 2021, 2022) and six championships (2002, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2023). He, Tom Schweiss, and Michael Cullen are the only players ever to record consecutive Mini Masters victories, and his run of 4 titles in 6 years is one of the best stretches in tournament history.
His all-time best miniature golf rounds are a pair of 27s, achieved at Fort Wayne, Indiana's Putt-Putt (the classic course). One of those rounds included 11 holes-in-one! Mick's best 18-hole score on any non-Putt-Putt-branded course is a 31 at Hinkle Family Fun Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He scored a 32 on Hinkle's other course that same evening and also scored a 32 on one of the two courses at Myrtle Beach's legendary Mt. Atlanticus. Additionally, in 2007, Mick scored a 33 on Par-King's red course, which is tied for the best single round in Par-King history.
Mick holds the RecordSetter world record for most holes of miniature golf played by one person in 24 hours (5,040), accomplished March 28-29, 2011 at Rocky's Fun House in Waukegan. On June 4-5, 2021, Mick also completed 4,941 holes in an official Guinness World Record attempt, to beat the existing Guinness record by 212 holes.
In the most widely-viewed moment of his miniature golf career, Mick won an episode of the TV game show Holey Moley in July 2019, taking home $25,000, the champion's plaid jacket, and the Golden Putter. In 2022, Mick added to his mini golf CV by taking the title in the 3rd annual Miniest Mini Golf Open at Lilli Putt in Coon Rapids, MN, besting a competitive field by 2 strokes and taking the inaugural American Minigolf Alliance season championship in the process.
Interesting facts: Mick once spent 10 1/2 hours at Wrigley Field for a doubleheader (rain delays, 25 total innings). He was once an official scorer for an NCAA hockey game. He has hiked to the top of the Continental Divide (and come down with altitude sickness to prove it). His hair has been at least six different colors. Mick is a social work professor and an avid marathoner. His brother successfully taught him how to solve the Rubik's Cube, which he can now do in under two minutes.
Interesting lies: Mick is the first person ever to touch a piano. He has an extensive dead parrot collection. He once challenged Barbara Walters to a duel. Mick invented Christian Slater. He's a huge Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas fan. He can't recite a single line from any Monty Python sketches or movies.
