Cougars fall to Lower Dauphin 2-1

The Falcons regular season dominance over Palmyra continued last night at Twin Ponds East.  The teams played a fast, physical, tight-checking first period before freshman Kyle Ziemba got the Cougars on the board at 11:45 of the first period.  The Cougars had momentum but missed several opportunities to extend their lead before the end of the period.

Lower Dauphin came out quickly and regained momentum in the second period. Cade Helmer was gifted a turnover leading to a breakaway for which Liam Schmidt had an answer. Later in the period, Jeffrey Gross dribbled a shot through a screen to tie the game and Helmer capitalized on a goalmouth scramble while on the power play to give Lower Dauphin the lead.

Both teams were unable to score in the third period allowing Lower Dauphin to hang on for the 2-1 victory.  Lower Dauphin remained unbeaten and handed the Cougars their first loss.  Schmidt was fabulous in goal for the Cougars stopping 36 of 38 shots.

Palmyra (2-1) will face Central Dauphin (0-2) on Friday at 8:15 PM at Twin Ponds East.
