Spring Session MVP/Scoring Leaders, Summer Session
The Spring Sessions for the AHL and NHL have just about ended (tonight's NHL Championship being the only exception).
Congratulations to Brian Foster and the Eagles for winning the Footer Championship by defeating the Knights in the best-of-three Footer Championship Monday, June 29th. All three games were close, hard-fought battles, so congrautlations to the Eagles for winning the well-earned Footer Championship!
Congratulations to Jason Dudash and the Cedars for winning the NHL Championship by defeating the Angry Pirates in the NHL Championship Tuesday, June 23. This is Cedars' fourth consecutive championship, congratulations on a spectacular and unprecedented feat!
Congratulations to Dave Mikesell and the Marauders for winning the AHL Championship by defeating the Crackers in the AHL Championship Friday, June 19th.
Here are the NHL and AHL Scoring Leaders/MVPs:
NHL Scoring Leader: Mike Scalzo (45pts; Runner-up: Scott McKee, 44pts)
NHL MVP: Scott McKee (7 votes; Runner-up: Mike Scalzo, 5 votes)
Both Scott and Mike will receive a free session for their achievements.
AHL Scoring Leader: Mark Kreiss [Mouth] (33pts; Runner-up: Scott Brubaker, 21pts)
AHL MVP: Four-way tie with 4 votes each:
Dave Mikesell, Mark Kreiss, Mike Tillia, Randy Reese (there were six runner-ups with 3 votes a piece).
Mouth will receive a free session for being scoring leader, and Dave, Mark, Mike and Randy will all receive $10 off a league session fee for tying for league MVP in votes.
Congratulations to all on your achievements during the spring session, and good luck to you in the (quickly) coming summer session (which, by the way, starts Thursday. Stay posted for scheduling details)!
2009 New Castle YMCA Hockey Programs
Welcome to the New Castle Community YMCA's Hockey Site! Here you'll find all information regarding the hockey programs (both foot and roller) that we offer for all ages (Youth, High School, Adult):
Junior Penguins Youth Instructional Hockey Program
Participants will learn basic skills associated with hockey such as handling, passing, shooting and defense. We will play a variety
of hockey games that will help the kids learn basic skills while having fun at the same time. The next 7 week session begins JUNE 13th and is held on Saturdays at 11 AM. The cost is $30 for members and $65 for non-members.
Junior Penguins Youth Hockey League
Instructional league with noncompetitive flow. Each week teams will have a short practice and a game. As the season progresses, teams will spend less time practicing and more time playing games. Parents are welcome and encouraged to volunteer coach for your sons and daughters. Next session begins JUNE 13th class held on Saturdays at 12 PM. The cost is $30 for members and $65 for non-members.
THE FIRST DAY OF THE PROGRAM ALL PARTICIPANTS WILL MEET AT 11 AM!!!

Under 18 Roller Hockey League (Ages 15 to 18)
Roller hockey league for high school aged participants played 1 night a week.
Leagues start: May 22nd(Spring)
Fee: $30/player
Adult Roller Hockey League (Ages 18 and up)
The most popular current program played two nights a week. Many players and teams travel from outside of New Castle to participate in this competitive league.
Leagues start: June 23rd (Summer)
Fee: $35/player
Adult Footer League (Ages 18 and up)
Same league format as the Adult Roller league with the exception that players play without rollerblades. This program has also brought many players from outside of New Castle.
Leagues start: June 29th(Summer)
Fee: $35/player.
Birthday Parties at the Rink (All Ages)
Full package parties for hockey fans to come enjoy the facility play hockey, skate around listen to their favorite music with their friends. Parties are available Wednesday night, Saturday afternoon, or by appointment. The party includes an hour and a half on the rink and an hour in the picnic area. The YMCA will take care of your party supplies. Call the YMCA for more information or to book a party.
