Milwaukie Junior Baseball Association (MJBA) provides opportunities for players from 5 to 14 years of age or players in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. Players are grouped into five distinct age divisions:

• T-ball is for players aged 5 through 7 or in Kindergarten through 1st grade. To see T-ball rules see Printable Forms section.

• Rookie ball is for players aged 6 through 8 or in 1st or 2nd grade. The players' ability to catch a baseball is usually what distinguishes rookie ball from a t-ball. To see Rookie ball rules see Printable Forms section.

• The Midget Division is for players aged 9 and 10 or in 3rd and 4th grade.

• The Junior Division is for players aged 11 and 12 or in 5th or 6th grade.

• The Senior Division is for players aged 13 and 14 or in 7th or 8th grade.

The age of the players is generally determined by their age on July 31 of the year of the baseball season, though there are exceptions for older players who wish to participate with their school classmates.

Within the Midget, Junior and Senior divisions players are also separated into three distinct skill levels. The separation is necessary to meet the Junior Baseball Organization goal of assuring that all players participate against other players of equal age and skill. Therefore, Midget, Junior and Senior division players are required to attend at least one tryout. The National level is for players with beginning or recreation level skills. The American level is for intermediate skills, and the Federal level is for players with the highest skill level.

All Players (Midgets-Seniors) must attend at least one player evaluation. The evaluation is not like a traditional try-out, but rather a way for coaches to see where the player should be placed based on his/her skill level. The hope is to best match the player with the appropriate team play level to make sure that not only are they learning new skills each year, but also to make sure that they are having fun all season long! This should NOT be a stressful event! Please share with your player(s)! If you have not registered yet, you may register online before or at the evaluations.

Go Mustangs!

Milwaukie Junior Baseball, is looking for some fresh faces for our board. MJBA can only be as strong as our board members. Remember this is fully a volunteer position that helps our kids. We have had a very successful baseball program and some of our members are moving on as their kids have gotten older and moved out of the program. We have been very blessed with these wonderful members and they will be truly missed.  Meetings are held the second Sunday of every month at the Public Safety Building in Milwaukie. There are many positions that may be open. In order to be able to continue to have such a great program we must have volunteers.

Open Board Positions:

Field maintenance • Field Maintenance Asst. • Fall Ball Coordinator

Some positions are busy year round where other positions are only during baseball season which is right around the corner. Speaking of right around the corner we are also looking for some great coaches for all levels. If you want to be a coach again or want to step up to be a coach this year please contact Pete Cooper at petescooper@yahoo.com . We are always looking for coaches for all levels from T-ball up to the Senior level. We look forward to meeting new people and having some wonderful board members and coaches.
