| Congrats Plumbers. Many, of course, will remember that I called them to win it all from the very beginning. Even after their poor start, they had the makings of a good team.
And, you heard it first on this Forum from me. All the way back on July 11, under the topic “Who’s the team to beat in 2007”, I said: “My sleeper pick is the Plumbers.” I now feel vindicated.
The question for next year is simple. Will the Plumbers be able to repeat? Perhaps Rookie will come back and make them even stronger (and then they can move their current all-glove-no-bat SS to another position. Ha!). Or maybe next year will be like this year, and another team will come from nowhere to win it all. Anyway, only time and next years draft will tell us!
All the best to everyone in the off-season.

| Plumbers 2007 Championships Winners*
First off I’d like to thank the entire league from the players to the Executives for an excellent season. I also would like to thank Chris Gonzalves for keeping the Website up to date and informative throughout the entire season. He is first class!! Being a participant this year I am a bit disappointed why teams CHEAT to win in a Slow-Pitch Beer league. Why do teams like the Plumbers not get penalized for shortening their bench in the playoffs? I guarantee if other teams stooped to the level of the Plumbers by shortening their bench, they would clearly be a mid-level team. Why should teams like Wild Wing and Jakes lose out because they play 13 or more guys? I guarantee if Wild Wing shortened their bench in the finals the Plumbers would not be pretending to be winners like they are doing now. This winter the Executive team needs to sit down and discuss rules around the number of players a team has to field in the playoffs. One suggestion I heard was penalizing a team like the Plumbers during the round robin by not allowing them to advance into the Semis. Also I heard another suggestion is teams should be given an automatic out after their last batter if they play less than X amount of players.
Heck I even hear UMAS called players to stay home during the playoffs. Wow would I love to play on that team?!?!?!?!
On last thing. I think the league should suspend Nick from the School. He is a bad representative to our league. The way he acts on the diamond and the language he uses to his players and to the opposing players is an embarrassment. Especially when I see little children watching. People say it’s just Nick being Nick but he lacks class and the league needs to do something about it. I guarantee if another player acted ½ of how Nick acts he would be kicked out of the game but the Umps do nothing.
I’d love to hear how other players in the league feel about my comments.

| Not the place or the time to make a comment like this. If you are suggesting rule changes bring it up at the AGM. Let the Plumbers enjoy their victory. If you are using the excuse that you cannot win with all 15 Re/Max did it last year
One last thing, who are you?

| Not sure who you are, but did you go up to anyone on the Plumbers team to find out why they only had 11? Maybe you should hear the facts first, before posting something like this.
If players are out of town, or hurt, what do you suggest? pull 4 players from the spares list..seriously?? They are a solid team and they deserve the win...you should be congradulating them for a great win...it's too bad we have people like you in the league that would go on here and post that garbage (and hide)...maybe you should be looking at your Nick comment and apply it to yourself..
cheers

| To rule change required. Who ever you are. You are showing complete lack of class. Firstly because you don't use your own name and secondly, you are so far off base as to why the Plumbers had less players than they could have had. I (Bob McCullough) had every intention of playing this year but unfortunely, I had surgery on my arm that didn't heal soon enough. I was the first person to pay for the new season. The Plumber's have respect for everyone of their players no matter how good they are or how bad they are. I wasn't one of their better players but no one ever told me or asked me to stay away from a game. They are an excellent team on the field and off the field. Please respect that team and the USPL or go and play somewhere else. Regards Bob McCullough

By the way, did you know (and I’m sure you didn’t) that MAS had one player getting married on Sunday and another was his best man. What would you suggest, that they show up in their tuxes??

| Wow, there's some bitterness being shown today! Congratulations to the Plumbers on their big win - after such a poor start to the season, your victory yesterday is really someting to be proud of. I'm sure that the Plumbers would never intentionally sit any of their "weaker" players just to get an advantage - and let's face it, it was the bottom of their order that beat us in the final yesterday. We couldn't get them out when we needed to. What the Plumbers really needed to do to guarantee a win was sit the Whalen brothers - they stink!!! LOL!
Congrats again Plumbers - the best team won.

No Class... and no facts... You should probably learn to use facts befores assumptions.
There is another league run out of Centennial... perhaps they have all 15 players show up everygame... have no rains outs... and video replay to ensure nothing was missed... Let us know.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE PLUMBERS & BISONS. We look forward to beating you next year.
Special thanks to the Umpires for adjusting to the rule changes - and ensuring that the USPL has another sucessful year.
Executive - Great job.

I would also like to thank my Wild Wing teammates for an excellent year. I don't think anyone picked us to go very far in the playoffs this season and we surprised alot of people before falling to a very good and deserving champion in the Plumbers. Danny Goodridge

I say we make him present his 'suggestions' first on the agenda at the AGM. Get your facts before making remarks like that man. Way to go Plumbers. Fantastic tourney. We on Remax can relate to the dark horse victory - so sweet. You deserve it. I can personally attest to the class ball team that you are. By the way, who was the team that the Plumbers lost to anyway? ;)

| First off congrats to Plumbers and Bisons on their victories on Sunday. Congrats to Wild wing and MAS for making it to the big dance. Some of you are asking where the facts are to proof that some teams are asking players not to play.
I do know for a fact that MAS did ask someone on their team not to play in the tournament weekend. He was pissed, and is now going into the "A" draft. He had been hurt for most of the season, but has finally recooperated. But they still told him not to show up. He paid his money just like everyone else, and he should play.
I do not know the situation with the plumbers and I will not comment about that team, if everything was legit then they deserve the accolades that they get.
Thanks to the exec for putting on a great tournament, and thanks to the weather genie for providing amazing weather for the weekend. Smart move putting the beer tent behind centerfield. See you at the banquet. Jon Lloyd

It's all this that makes playing ball in this community such an experience.
I have a real appreciation and respect for all the lads from REMAX for their outstanding accomplishments and unfortunately some of the crap that goes along with it.
Yes Xamer, only game we lost all weekend was to REMAX, the defending champs and personally I was hoping to play you guys again on the weekend, but it just wasn't to be.
Have a great fall/winter and we'll see you on the diamonds next year! Sackie - Plumbers #55.

| “RuleChangeRqd” is a player from of one the semi finals teams. The Plumbers did not do anything incorrectly and as mentioned before in this space is a team with integrity. It is unfortunate that one of the best players in the league (Fraser) was injured yesterday and could not contribute in the final game. The game could have been different. Again congrats to the Plumbers for a well deserved championship.

| The issue of players being asked not to play IS a real issue - if it weren't, it wouldn't be talked about every year. The fact remains however, that until one of those players who it happened to steps forward and says it, it will continue to be talked about behind peoples backs and undermine the league in general. Even worse, you have guys like 'rule change rqd' calling out other teams who apparently have legitimate reasons for playing with shorter benches. It doesn't mean that a player who's been asked NOT to play has to put his name on the league website. Perhaps some kind of ombudsman or person on the league's committee could deal with this? I would also suggest that if it were PROVEN to be true, that team should be penalized in the draft somehow. My 2 cents.

| congratulations plumbers and bisons! flukes and underdogs are what makes the playoff weekend sweet. exec - great job for the tent and derby. congrats to travel lovers, i guess bigger is better(just kidding), if crupi was pitching to you though they would have pointed you to first! we as a league need to address many issues, rules are rules and they are there for a reason, rule interpretation is someone looking for a way to cheat, bottom line. spares list (everyone used not just the good players) what is a forfeit and what can be rescheduled crack down on language and digracing the game players should be out of the game, some take it too far and get away with it amount of games you must play in a season everyone on the roster must play, you cannot use a sponsor who does not play etc
we have a well run league here with individuals who have a passion for the league and love the game, other leagues have folded due to lack of interest. our league has history and credibility, lets keep it that way.we all want to compete but do not over do it, you are playing for a t shirt ($20 at the beer store if you want to win to). we have all missed our chance at the majors, well except for mike palmer according to adrenaline, so lets keep the game fun. there was more contraversy this year than any other mostly because of rumours and assumptions and not going right to the source first before making a judgement. have a safe winter and lets get back to basics next year, see you at the winter meetings, i heard they were going to be in florida this year or is that just another rumour?

You are misinformed....even if your info came from the player himself.
We never contacted anyone to tell them not to play. Period, end of story.
As someone said, this forum is not the outlet for this discussion. It is just that I do not appreciate someone dragging MAS through the mud, implying they have the "inside" story.

| My gratitude goes out to the people that run this league and this website. It is by far the finest run league in Ontario. The weekend was unforgettable; the games played, the umpires, the music and cold beer were all grand. To improve things next year we could have more food, tickets for the cold ones and more drinks on Sunday afternoon. All of the positives definitely outweigh those few negatives I just mentioned. See you all at the banquet and the AGM.

| NL, If you and your teammates had half the class of The Plumbers OR Remax, you guys would be dangerous. But instead, other teams have your number and it works against you. Teams wait and wait, and then when one of your ‘hotheads’ (and there are plenty of them on your team) loses it, your opponents pounce on you guys. Sometimes, like this year, it takes until the semi-final game, but invariably it happens and is the reason that you choke in the playoffs year after year.
In this year’s semi-final, your team had a chance to beat The Plumbers. But then your #1 hothead went off on one his tirades from the mound, and it was all downhill from there. When will your team ever learn?
Good luck to you guys in the off-season… can I suggest anger management classes?
