So we are looking for a decent post eh? Well, I can't guarantee this is a great one but I'm sure there are plenty of opinions out there.

Question: How do we ensure teams show up with at least 13 players in the playoffs?

I'm tired of teams showing up with their best 10 or 11 guys. I know that injuries and personal lives effect how many games we can all play but it seems like we need a way to ensure everyone gets a chance to play in the playoffs.

Just as an example, Plumbers had 10-11 guys playing all weekend 2 years ago and then 14 showed up for the picture. I'm not saying - I'm just saying.

All I can say is that I hope this year we see full squads out there playing their butts off.

Ps. yes, my team plays with at least 13 guys a game.

Check ya later and good luck to all.

Is there an amount of played games required to qualify for the playoffs?

No, really, . . . Mr. Bomb, I don’t know what you’re saying. Are you implying that the Plumbers cheated in 2007? Cause that’s what it sounds like you’re saying. Or, are you saying that you have to have played in a game to be in the Champion’s photo?? Tell me, what are you saying??

Just play ball stop being babies . Hit the ball catch the ball you win. Worrying about how many are on the other bench does not win or lose a game .YOUR team is good enough or not

In the 2007 playoffs, Complete Plumbing did not do anything erroneously. They are and always have been a team this plays the game with integrity. They were true sportsmen in their championship run of 07.

Best Wishes to all in the playoffs.

Can't see the Plumbers doing that.

However it is a bit odd that on some teams that batters 13,14 and 15 have something better to do playoff weekend. Lets hope for more participation and less mystery injuries this year.....it is rec softball after all.

May the best team win.

On the surface, all is well for the '09 Crupi Blues. The best record in second half of the season doesn't speak it shouts. Magic is in the Unionville air. Unfortunately, there's more to the story. Late season attendance and pitching issues lurk. News that old reliable Heniee is not eligible to play in the playoffs is cringe worthy. Nothing is ever easy in our league. Remax has worked some serious magic getting championships over the years. Let's hope Crupi can also pull a few more rabbits out of their hats.

Wow...nice Bomb.

It seems every week is has been an adventure for many teams we are all having the same problem apparently, getting guys to the game. I haven't had the same lineup two weeks in a row and haven't had the whole team at one single game this year. Especially when you have a bunch of guys that haven't played together that long it spells a mediocre season.

I know lots of teams have guys that travel for a living, and play tournaments and such so they have the same problem getting consistency. This thing could get really interesting this week as teams start hitting their playoff groove. It's all a matter of hitting your peak at the right time.

One thing I know is that this league has seriously improved and is much more competitive than last year.

Dear The Bomb,

Firstly, learn how to count. We had at least 12 for every game except one the year the Plumbers won it. Majority of the games had 13. You're welcome to argue Don or Bob's absence, it will only make you look worse.

Secondly, I was told "The Bomb" is Hicksey from Nvision. If this is true, your name suits you as I heard you BOMBED last night. Enjoy your first of many loses.

Sincerely,

Someone who can count.

We should all be conscious of the teams that bring their best ten tonight and over the weekend. What comes after ten ohhh is it eleven.

This has been an especially tough year for some teams in terms of injuries??? From the beer tent I see a lot score keepers and coaches. It's amazing how all the top players on each play through the pain but the bottom players need to pull themselves but jump up and down when the 10 or 11 guys that are actually playing win a game.

Spankie is chearing for Harding or DST today as they brought out the most players so far and have truely earned their spots in the brackets.

This needs to be address some how at the next AGM.

Simple idea to end bickering - in the playoffs, just like in a tournament, you can bat as many as you like. If a team wants to bat all then they can. If a team wants to play their best 10 then let them. I certainly have seen enough guys in the regular season not want to play in the last inning in a close game. It's only a game but some guys don't want to hurt their team.
Certainly it would be the best if everyone played and everything was on the up and up but people spend more time wondering why guys aren't playing then concentrating on the game.
It may not be the best idea in a Men's Rec league but it would end the bickering over who should and shouldn't be playing due to "injuries".

You said one thing that actually makes sense Its Just a Game...and that is it may not be a good idea for a Rec League. In fact, it goes against everything the league stands for. Ridiculous that you would even suggest it.

easier said than done. It's kind of like the juiced bat controversy. Difficult to question it, even harder to prove it. How about a league ombudsman?

Perhaps the solution is to fill teams rosters from the spares list for those that come up a little short on the playoff weekend.

It's simple, all teams will be asked to submit a playoff roster prior to the begining of the playoffs. Those that can't field a complete roster of 15 players will be appointed players from the spares list to complete their roster. Maybe some teams will think twice about shortening their bench with the prospect of getting a newb.

On the other hand, who gives a rats @$$?
