| oh noooooooo.....Just got a notice that all the soccer fields are closed today and tomorrow and games are cancelled!!! Are we next??

| Good afternoon everyone,
As you can imagine this fields are saturated and well beyond being playable. Several user groups have been very proactive and have already cancelled their games and practices for this evening. Thanks to those groups.
The YRDSB has also closed all of their fields until further notice.
I know it has been a rough spring. It is the middle of May and many groups have not even gotten a game in yet. But it is necessary to cancel the permits for tonight, Monday May 16th.
The situation will be re-evaluated tomorrow to determine how we move forward.

| What is going on with the town and closing fields prematurely? Last night was a perfect night to play ball. Actually after reading the long-term forecast, it wouldn't surprise me if we can't play this next week either although it is too early to tell. Did all the games play last night?

| If the city would get their heads out of their butts maybe this wouldn't happen.
Maybe instead of the so called grounds crew doing joy rides all day on the gator out to the bushes and instead raking the necessary areas on the infield we wouldn’t have puddles all over the place.
How about using a hand tamper for once on the areas that need it? Maybe lay some weeping tile in there. Maybe head over to Canadian Tire and buy a bigger tarp with no holes in it for $80 bucks. And maybe for once fix those lights, some point in the wrong direction. Do we really need to light up behind the fences?
What about fixing the gates at Milliken.
Why did some teams not play last night? that is ridiculous.

| The amount of games in the past 2 years that the Parks and Recs has cancelled for adult and kid sports due to rain in the day has become ridiculous. It used to be that before people would ask if we were playing at night and the answer would always be - "let's see how it is at game time" and games were never called by the town. We pay for these parks to use them - they are only available for use 4 months a year and the Parks and Recs people get paid to maintain and repair them occasionally.
