| It was nice to finally see everybody back on the court after a long break. The talk of the CBA Analyst was also interesting, as it was in everybody's conversation throughout the whole night.
First, lets begin with the game of the week, involving the champions, Block Boys, and GetBig. Just like I had analyzed in my last post, Alex 'TOBIGTOSTRONG' Thomas was out to get his finals revenge. The man went #HAM, dropping 35 points and 11 rebounds, with a 59% fg pct from the field, against 'CBA Habib' & Co. The absence of captain Mike Shamoun's defense was also felt, as the champs had nobody to contain Ray Georges also who dropped 15 points. Moreover, the champs were getting CRUSHED BY 20+ points, but ended up losing by 12 (instead of the 11 I previously predicted), even when having Sinan in the lineup. The self-proclaimed allstar 'CBA Habib' seemed to be bothered by his 'knee injury', ending up shooting an AMAZING 18% from the 3 point line. Furthermore, Id like to tip my hat off to Mike Yono, who actually took my advice and got off to a good start this season, shooting 100% from threes, 2-2, instead of his 0% 0-23 last season. Keep up the good work! Also, Chris still couldn't finish around the bucket, going 5-15. Just like I predicted, the Champs are off to a 0-1 start, and there team seems to be going DOWNHILL, as they looked like one of the weakest teams to perform. We will see if the Block Boys are able to bounce back from this defeat, as they face Amil's team next week. However, 'GetBig' is looking strong, at 1-0, with a BYE next week.
Next, I will analyze the first game of the night, between Show Em & Dillons squad. This game went back and forth, as both teams battled all night with each other, it was tough to see who was going to come out with the victory. As I analyzed the game in the last post, 'Show Em' ended up prevailing with the W, winning by 13, instead of the 9 I had previously predicted. 'Derrick Rose' led the night in scoring, shooting a fabulous 73% from the field and 88% from the charity strike. The man couldn't be stopped, as Dillons squad clearly had no answer for him. Devo had contributed with a double double, allowing Show Em to earn their first victory of the season. Dillon's team looks big on paper, however that didn't show in the stats, as they were clearly out-rebounded 28-18. Adrian and the rest of his team will need to step it up if they want to be considered contenders in this league. Show Em moves to 1-0, while Dillons squad moves to 0-1. Show Em will look for another W next week, as they face the '96 bulls. Dillons needs to work on rebounding and defense in Week 3, as they have a bye Week 2.
Next, we will discuss the second team of the night, Matts team vs Stephens team. Missing a season, Stephen is back in action, pairing up with Amil once again. This was definitely one of the closer games of the night, as both teams had also battled back and forth, exchanging leads. Amil had completely dominated the game, scoring 15 points, achieving 7 of them from the FT line. As I predicted, this team showed that they had no outside game whatsoever, however, they were able to get through the lane with ease, due to Amil's offense. BJ and Bazzi had trouble throughout the whole night getting passed the opposing defense. Suprisingly, BJ had only shot 11 shots, which should be thought of as a career LOW. This surely must change if Matt's team has any chance of winning. Things looked horrible for Matt's team, as they couldn't handle the ball, achieving many turnovers. Also, Preston, didnt show up whatsoever, scoring only 3 points and had the ball in his hands, down by 2 with the last possession, missing a three pointer to win. The 'BUST' effect seems to be taking place. Stephen seems to be the only one to have proved me wrong, as they won the game by 2, 38-36, as I had previously predicted them to lose by 4. Matt's team falls to 0-1, facing the yet to play, Chicabooms next week, as Stephens team moves to 1-0, facing the champs next week.
Lastly, the last game of the night was supposed to be a battle between the Express Lanes, and the GREATEST TEAM EVER, '96 BULLS, however, it seemed like the REAL Michael Jordan & Co were no where to be found. The game was close at the beginning, however turned ugly quickly in the second half as Jevan & The Express Lanes clearly took over. As the commish had previously said that with the new addition of Dennis Rodman, aka Sam, he was going to wreck havoc downlow against Jevan. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case as Jevan continued his MVP Reign, dropping 30 & 15 while Sam started his CBA debut finishing with 7 and 7. The Express Lanes seemed to hustle the entire game, while the '96 bulls didnt, and clearly gave up in the game, as they couldn't finish around the rim, missing numerous easy layups from many members of the team. This doesn't seem like a memorable performance from the greatest team ever, as they will quickly try and forget about this game, taking on Show Em next week. The Express Lanes move to 1-0, as they take on Nick's team, who hasn't played yet.
Also, keep in mind that this is only the first week, and there are plenty of games left in the season for teams to up there play. Practice makes perfect.
Remember, I can see you, however, you can't see me. See you next week.
