| Does anyone have the latest Softball Canada rules, and can clarify this rule for me?
Umpires in my league keep calling illegal pitches on my pitcher because his hand goes above his shoulders on the back swing of his pitching motion. I have looked through the 2011 rule book, and there is no mention of any such rule.
I literally got screamed at by an umpire a few weeks back because he insisted that it was a rule. It was another league.
Has anyone heard of this? If so, where is it written, because I can't find it.
Thanks!

| I checked the SPN rulebook for the rule and the only possible ruling I could find is in section 3 C which states a pitcher cannot move forward to distract the batter. So if your pitcher once he releases the ball takes a step forward with his hand going over his shoulder, this umpire might possibly believe he is distracting the batter Personally I pitched for many years and to be honest my pitching hand never went over my shoulder This is a hard call for me to make without actually seeing his pitching motion Other than that section I cannot find anything else in the rule book to cover this situation
