| We were not sure about the new rules with running out home runs. As I have whined about before I think it is silly to have to run them out. The batter only had to run to first and the baserunners could just walk to the dugout. What is our official league stance on this?

| I'm a fan of coming out of the dugout to high five my teammates after a dinger. Having them round the bags gives me enough time to drag my keister off the bench.

| I prefer to hit and sit. Well its not sit...go get your ball and speed up the game. I don't need to watch someone go around the bases and waste my time. Especially when you're at Crosby hitting 230 foot homers. If you choose to run the bases then it should be your choice. Which I understand if you typically don't hit them.

It's not like every second batter hits one out - we would maybe save 5 minutes a game - figure it out lads and enjoy your moment of glory for the week
Maybe more guys should swing the bat instead of working a 6 pitch walk 3 times a gam - that would speed things up! Gotta love the high on base % stat!! LOL

| Guys, this is the dumbest rule ever. We penalize someone for doing something good in a sport.
Yes, those will say "But it's Crosby, it's a short fence".
Consider this.....hockey is our National game. Have you ever played in a league where they said, once your up by 2 goals, you can only score on a backhand and from behind the blue line? No, it would never be considered. Crosby rink is a small rink, just like the diamond.
This is a "mens league", so man up and hit em large. Touch em all Joe, you'll never hit a bigger one!!
Cheers

| that was a poor example. anyways, almost all Men's league follow the rule when you are up on homerun's, it's a strike/out especially in competitive leagues. if you want to hit homeruns all day, play co-ed. Even then, alot of co-ed leagues have a similar variation of this rule, so you may be out of luck Womens league's? I'm not sure about.. there's probably no limit so have fun.

I am in favour of all out "hit em as you can". Maybe you should consider co-ed, ladies, etc. Just sayin :)

| golf=taking away the belly putter, max lengh on drivers, increasing the length on courses hockey= so many rule changes over the past few years etc etc
I do play co-ed, it's a good game. As for women's? i'd slap on a wig and play there if all I wanted to do was hit homeruns.
however you missed the point I was trying to get across.. Putting a max oh HR's is the norm, it's unfortunate, but it's the norm., Especially at the most competitive levels.. these rules or limits help make the game better. We All can hit homeruns, it's nothing new. Would you rather spend half the game running after balls hit over the fence? slow down the game? get in about 5 innnings? complain how you don't get to go up to bat as much in that hour? and so forth..
and in case you guys were wondering, yes, I am able to hit homer's lol.. this rule actually hurt me a few times last year, and one of them was at milliken for an out (proud to say lol)

| I guess you don't understand "penalize someone for doing something good". I'm not referring to modified bats, flight restricted balls, or any of your examples. If Dustin Johnson hits a drive 330 yards, we don't say......oh, you can only hit it 280, hit again. Anyways, you don't get it, and it's just my opinion. Cheers to all

| Hey Beertenter, is there a rule that says Dustin Johnson can't hit a 330 yard drive after he's hit 2 more than his playing partner? NO!
There is, however, a rule that says you can't hit a homer when your team is up by two...get it?
It's a rule! They do tell him to take a two stroke penalty when he hits it where he shouldn't...get it? I don't think he says that's my best drive, I shouldn't be penalized. He knows the rules...you aren't supposed to hit it there, so, it's a penalty...get it?

| Question Why do we impose sanctions for a team that hit the ball over the fence? Answer because your team can't. Hitting a four sacker is not guaranteed so if and when we do it we should not give any pentaly.

| I'm thinking about running up to the ball to see how it feels to hit one hard. Gotta happen soon...at my age I don't have much time left to witness it. When it clears the fence I will just keep on running because we should not have a negative outcome to a dinger.

| A walk will allow for more playing time. Think about it, we get to the next batter. How many teams really have numerous big boppers? Only a few, so let them walk or walk them automatically. So it is more fun seeing them trying to go yard and getting out. Everyone, including the umpires wins.

| When you stride, you want as little movement as possible. On my team, we have those players with the giant stride and the high knee action, and they are always late to the ball. I stride about 6 inches. I try to push my leg rather than lift it up because lifting your leg rather than striding forward will mess up your timing and you will be late to the ball. You always want to land on the ball of your foot and your foot should make a 45 degree angle to the plate (pretty much straight to first base). It keeps you balanced this way, but also helps you with the follow through? and the ball will fly over the fence. Then if we are plus two, I will just take the walk.
