TOPIC: New Divisional Format |

| Just some food for thought, the league doesn't need much tweaking but wouldn't mind people's views on the following
Since you play teams in your own division twice and the other division once, would it make sense to put the top 9 teams in one division? This will create more competitive games during the season for both ends of the spectrum.
Obviously the play-off format will have to be tweaked as it will be more difficult for teams in the "top" grouping to have a decent record and vice-versa, there will likely be some teams in the bottom grouping with inflated records.
Every year the top three teams from the bottom and the lowest three teams from the top groupings could swap but this is where it gets complicated.
I'm not sold on this idea but would appreciate views.

| The playoffs could be the same, top nine in the premier division and the best three in the next division. Great suggestion.

| The top 9, in the first division make the playoffs, doesn't make any sense.

| Good point. So you can make the playoffs with a 4-21 record?

| Paul,
How does the draft work?
To the point above a team can have a very weak record and not draft until number 10, does not seem fair.

| Good question about the draft, and I don't think there is a right answer. I would only add that the draft today is great in theory but hasn't worked for many different reasons. Obviously, the lowest ranked teams in the "lower" pool would draft first. The real question becomes whether the top ranked teams in the lower pool draft before the lower ranked teams in the top pool.
The reality is there is never usually more than 6 "game-changing" individuals in the draft so they should all be going to the worst teams in theory.
The more pressing question in my mind is whether this idea of grouping the good teams will make the league even more competitive (from a bad point of view) and we'll see even more out-of-town studs being picked up and losing the community-based, family-oriented league we once had.

| The core of your suggestion is to create an ultra-competitive division and a weaker one. This is why I strongly disagree. The draft system works and we have team going from the last to an upper class team in years.

| So two years ago a team like Harding would be regulated to a soft division and not be eligible for the playoffs?
They have been in the final four for two straight years, consolation winners I guess.
Why change what have been working for over forthy years?

| It is a great feeling to beat "a top tier team". Over the years beating one of the best teams gives the boys energy. in the scenario presented that will go away.

| Firstly, the bad teams can still beat the top tier teams, every team still plays each other at least once, all I'm saying is the better teams play each other twice. Secondly, this doesn't prohibit Harding for example from making the playoffs, they would have likely finished in the top part of the 'weak' pool which gets them a playoff spot. I know this isn't perfect and has some minor tweaks to make, I'm throwing this out there for constructive feedback, unfortunately its just the typical guy who doesn't read or understand or just wants to shoot down every idea as stupid that is responding. It is an idea for the AGM coming up and if you give some thought about it for a couple of weeks maybe we can have a constructive discussion at the agm.

Think it through, find solutions to all the concerns that were raised. You can do it.

| Big Pappi – when you become Old Pappi you may like to play in a less competitive league – before you go to the Masters.
And for the young ones – who are not home run hitters – they may also like to play in a less competitive league.

| Advocates of the old school structure argue that divisional strength ebbs and flows. Since I joined this league in 2007 the three best teams in a league have never come from the same division. So I say leave it be. Doesn’t that make the any tougher to stomach?
