| Truly amazing, your projections says 16 of the 18 teams will have the same amount or more wins as the previous year. At approximately the half point of the season 4 teams have more wins than 2017. In any given night is the theory.

can win on any every day may be true. They are not the actual probabilities they believe that each team has of winning. Odds are designed to earn money for the bookmakers, based on the difference between their odds and perceived probabilities of a win. Upsets happen, that is why we play the game.

| Advanced statistics like the playoff odds aren't a perfect crystal ball, but they can provide insight into the aspects of ball that rely on dumb, cruel luck. And while dumb, cruel luck can benefit (or hurt) teams in consecutive years, mathematics says that it's not supposed to. Factors like injuries, attendance, luck, the difference between a team's win total and its loses, and a team's record in one-run games are all subject to regression. Over the course of the 25 game season, runs differential offers a clearer indication of a team's quality than its win-loss record. Any team can lose a heart-breaker on fluke blooper, but the teams that are regularly ahead by 5 or 6 runs in the 7th inning tend to be better than the ones subject to freaky losses. Put another way: Any team can beat certain teams, but the teams that beat them by 12 to 15 tend to be better than the ones who beat them by 1 to 3.

| At any point in a game, each team has a probability of winning based on the time remaining, the score and the situation (home team, 2 outs, plus 2 etc.). The games are not played on this forum.
