2019 fees are published already and I do not see the League considering that the Master is highly subsidizing the Open division.

Is the League planning to be fair and make the Master to play the same quantity of games than the Open division (Including play-off format)?

Some visits, no reply....make me think that maybe something is rotten in the State of Denmark.

Well, let see this:

Regular season:
Open: 25 games = $200 = $8 per game
Masters: 18 games = $200 = $11 per game
37.5% Premium to play Masters.....mmmmm, really?

What about this: 2019 Open division fees = $235 and 2019 Masters division fees = $ 165, and Masters get same jersey quality than Open division jerseys?
.....just saying.....

I did put together a reply and then thought to myself, why bother as the original poster probably has nothing better to do!

Since you have asked again here goes.

If you want to join a league where your fee is broken down to amount of games played, then feel free to look elsewhere.

I cannot believe that someone is even bringing this up? It blows my mind that someone having a great time in a ball league that charges $200 for a whole spring and summer of ball would ever complain! If by chance you are not having a great time, then come the end of the year you should definitely QUIT!

Hopefully by receiving a response you will let this ridiculous post end!

Fellas,

I have great time and enjoy playing in the league, but let's go back to the point, don't deviate your attention attacking me, you looks better if you sustain your point with solid arguments about the topic.

Let's go back again with the main question. Why Masters plays a substantial number of games lower than the Open division if we are paying same fees? Is this "fair"? for whom?

By the way, I have not included the play-off format in the discussion, otherwise it would be even uglier.

Are you guys Open Division players?

Blackbeans has some valid point(s). Rather than saying get lost the league may like to address it.

What exactly are the valid points?

Firstly, the Markham Slo-Pitch league's registration costs are more than ours. Would you join there league and then complain about the costs?

Secondly, the author of this post even mentions getting better uniforms! I for one dipped into my pocket (as did my teammates) and paid a healthy amount of money to wear the shirt on my back. You assume that the league just decided to give us teams great uniforms and to the Masters $10 shirts!

There is no conspiracy here. We all pay pay a very reasonable amount to play on nice diamonds and have fun!

Why is it that some people have to find something to complain about! It's always, always the same guys too. In all seriousness, if a guy on my team started a post like this I would be one of the first people to quickly explain the error of his ways!

I don't know if I'm giving this topic legs by even acknowledging it's presence or not but I encourage you to leave the league if you're not happy!

Should ask the question why Masters pays the same price with 7 less games on the schedule. Clarification will resolve this thread.

Did you really just say playing at crosby is a premium ?
The masters can play all their games there if thats the gripe....This league needs to move away from that diamond...its an absolute joke we even play there, it ruins the playoffs as well. Oh right back to the point, what was it again? Some older fellow complaining about the kids walking on his lawn?

Minimum wage is going up again. So maybe you can afford to play again next year or if it?s too much don?t play. It is that simple.

The older division choose to play 18 games because more than one game per week was too much. That is what I was told at the start of the season.

I see people get insulted and start insulting when they are trying to justify something that just does not fair. This is not about the money, this is about being fair.

I feel lack of arguments and deepness when someone, instead of elaborating into the issue, just try to slap in the chat with a gross "get out of here". I do not understand how someone like that can feel proud of belonging to a friendly community and just stand by himself without thinking in the real topic of the chat.

BTW, I don't have a money issue to pay, I am just feeling it is not fair to pay the same than Open division when we do not play the same amount of games, even the playoff format is different with direct elimination in Masters versus Double Knock out in Open (just wonder why?).

This is an interesting point and one that should be looked at.

I'm not sure what the exact reason is regarding the discrepancy in fees, but I do know that fees will have to most likely go up next year as the costs from the town continue to rise, for all members of the USPL, regardless of division.

Regarding the amount of games, it was thought that the masters league only wanted to play once per week. If they would like to play more games we can certainly look at that. The times of games have nothing to do with fees, the open league has suggested they prefer late games and Milliken, the masters the opposite.

There are also less teams in the masters which impacts the amount of games for the playoffs. Some of scheduling has to do with uniformity,

I would be open to suggestions from the masters league regarding solutions, but paying less for less games is not a solution, although it may be true. The league and its members all pay the same to be a part of it, similar to a union, regardless of how much one works, the fee is still the same.

As always a discussion is welcome to remedy the situation.

Rick Seymour

Hi Rick,

Thank you so much for your understanding and replying so respectfully and open. Really appreciated.

I think that we should discuss in the Annual Meeting about the possibility to make both divisions close balanced by the numbers of games played per each. If the difference are just few games, let's say 22 games in the Open versus 20 games in the Masters, I think that's easy to absorb and understand. I was not aware that the number of games decided to play were discussed among the players of the Masters division. I was never asked about that.

Thanks again for approaching the discussion, hopefully the exec's can be aware about this issue and maybe they can present an alternative to better balance both divisions (number of games versus fees).

Well done Sey and Blackie sounds like it can be worked out sensible.
My suggestion make it a minimal amount $25?? less for the Masters. An acknowledgement of the difference.
You know we aren't going to be able to get more diamond time and umpire time if the Masters want more games in 2019.

Let me ask a question....Did anyone from the Open Division post to this board and ask to pay less money a couple of years ago when the registration fee for the Masters Division included team bats while we had to purchase our own? This went on for a couple of years at least!

I am in no way suggesting that this was unfair rather trying to point out how ridiculous this post and the original poster are!

The majority of Masters players wanted one game a week, preferred Crosby Park and liked earlier games. For the most part that has been accomplished and for the sake of $25 this poster feels it necessary to do nothing more than just cause trouble.

I think it's insulting that the people who work so hard to make this league a success (the exec) will have to devote anytime to this topic.

Thank you Tarheel for insulting me and all the people that have added value to the post, in your perception it might be ridiculous but not in the perception of few other ones. (Tolerance).

Just to close the topic, I was reached for the exec who explained to me that there was an agreement between the team captains to make the calendar the way it is, and the round robin/playoff format for the Masters will help to better balance the amount of games played.

I didn't know about this fact and I appreciate the exec approaching me to explain those details.

Have all a good end of the season.

Blackbean,

In what way did I insult you?

Calling a post ridiculous in no way accomplishes that. This all could have been avoided by perhaps simply checking with your team captain, instead of intimating that there was some sort of conspiracy. Do you not realize how insulting that is?

At any rate I'm glad this has been finally put to bed and I eagerly await to see what bats the "Open " division will be receiving next year! LMAO

Enjoy the weekend!
