I think it's time to change how the league is run. There is too much disparity between the good teams and the bad teams and it makes for boring ball. The top tier should have the top 10 teams and they play each other 3 times for a total of 27 games. The second tier has 8 teams and can play each other 3 or 4 times for a total of 21 or 28 games. Each year the bottom one or two teams from tier one switches with the top one or two teams from tier two (ie relegation and promotion). This would make the majority of games far more interesting and fun.

Any thoughts would be welcomed. Intelligent or otherwise.

the only way that system will work is if you play the first half of the season then draw up your divisions (the problem is somelike to know the schedule to plan holidays and such). but then someteams do not feel they deserve to be in the bottom or top tier. we have a draft to improve the weaker teams and over the years it has worked. again, anyteam can win on any given night. two years ago i played in a league in aurora (the worst run league in the province) and they divided the league up into two divisions halfway through. the problem is that if you have a bad start for whatever reason you could end up in the bottom tier when on paper you we better like we were. no one wanted to play in the bottom tier because all these hot shots thought that they were gods gift to slopitch. so they made the bottom tier up with three teams, the new team (us), the team who did not have a win and the second worst team who quite the league as a result. you cannot judge the previous season on how to start the next especially with the draft. on a side note, our team ended up going to provincials in "c" and winning the show, and they placed us at the bottom. anyone can win at anytime. i sent them an email with a picture of my ring attatched. i am not slamming your idea i am just letting you know from experience that it does not work.

as a side note. for playoffs i think it works because you earn the right to be there and if you have a bad team that year you can compete and have fun instead of ending the year getting beat by remax. did i say that? just a joke an no i do not play for them!

I think this is a valid suggestion. We have bounced the idea around the exec a few times, and are trying to get a feel for how the membership feels. One of the ideas is to use the years standings nad the bottom 2 teams of the top div get dropped fpr the following year, and the top 2 of the lower get to move up.

We are interested in how the majority feels on this.

I totally disagree with a 2 tier system. The USPL is supposed to be a fun recreational league. If teams drafted properly and other teams did not hide players during the tryouts the bottom teams would get the players they need to improve.

Starting the over 50 years old division (Crosby)that has been proposed would solve some of the issues also.

Having been a member in this league for over 20 years I do not want to play in a lower division just because my team is having a sub par year.

The beers do down just the same as when we are winning and my team (Bistro) are still having a fun year despite our disappointing record.

I agree with Cuddles. I feel the less competitive division is the way to go. It gives the player who wants a more casual atmosphere a chance to continue to play. I do not understand why this has met so much resistance. This would also (hypothetically) make the other (more competitive) division stronger.

How would the draft work if a player went A draft would he go in the top or lower tier of the league
Also is the draft not the way for lower teams to get better?
