Swingers Spin Pizza Bella
In a game that was never even close, the Bunch O' Swingers defeated Pizza Bella by the score of 21-2, ending the game after four innings. With the win, the Swingers all but clinch a playoff berth as they move to 8-3 on the year. Pizza Bella missed out on a chance to pull to within striking distance of the second playoff spot and fall to 2-5.
Dick Trudnak led the way for the Swingers at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a home run, two doubles, and seven RBI. Josh "Pookie" Whitebread was 6-for-7 with four runs batted in, while Mike Reese was 4-for-7 with a home run and three RBI.
Rich Noss again went the distance for BOS and improved his division-leading record to 6-2. He surrendered just two runs on eight hits, while striking out three.
Melissa Pesce and Wayne provided the few bright spots for Pizza Bella. Pesce was 3-for-4 with an RBI and Wayne was 2-for-4 with a run batted in.
Gary Wolczak took the loss on the hill for Pizza Bella, dropping his record to 1-3. Despite previously averaging more than a strikeout a game, Wolczak could not record a K and saw his ERA rise to 22.33.
