Thrilling come from behind victory. Two goals we allowed should never have happen. First was a direct result of an EXACT scenario I had spoken to the player about at halftime of the previous game then again at practice at length on Thursday night only to watch him do the EXACT thing I asked him not to do because we would eventual pay for it and we did. The TEAM worked far too hard to posses the ball, working it out of the back with movement for that to happen AGAIN like the several times it happen the previous week. At 17 a player is going to hear about it, that's life in my opinion. Obviously not in everyone's eyes considering that players parent told his son to get his bag he was taking him home. Leaving his team short. Like Im saying, had I not addressed it several times then being upset with the player would be incorrect but when it is specifically addressed the number of times it was....well, it is what it is. No matter, the boys busted their butts and came back. Second goal we allowed was just a poor turnover in the central mid just outside our 18, can't happen, just can't. We scored an equalizing goal about 90 seconds after they scored their first when Travis drop a 40 yard free kick into the box that the Keeper did not step to which allowed the streaking JT to fly in front of him to head it past him as the Keeper stood there with his hands still up as if the ball should have been in them. I spoke to the boys at half and told them they needed to put the ball on the ground and work it, posses it, don't cough it up to their defense because all they do is blast it forward. I said when we posses we work it up the field and the opportunities will come. To their credit they did a MUCH better job in the second half and the game turned. We were awarded a PK and I hear it was for a trip, I honestly couldn't see the infraction due to the number if players from both teams blocking my view. I called on Nas. Nas who in my opinion is THE best penalty shooter I've ever seen. He doesn't miss. Well he didn't miss this time either with a perfect strike to beat the GK who to his credit guessed correctly and overall had an outstanding night himself making 2 ridiculous saves to deny JT and Alex during the run of play. JT scored his second and game winner with about 13 min to go I believe. He cracked one from outside the 18 that skimmed a defender causing a wicked back spin on the ball and in my opinion was the reason it beat the Keeper curling upper 90 and just past the Keeper who I believe still got a touch to it. The boys saw the game out to seal the win. No doubt we can't win without the goals and this is absolutely NOT taking away from HT's performance AT ALL, I just have to say Dan us the player if the game for me. Once I instructed Dan to mark what I considered their only real threat, Dan completely negated the kid who did nothing the rest of the game except complain. John, Travis & TJ I felt were outstanding. Daniel did a tremendous job in the central midfield and seriously busted his butt. Alex also did a tremendous job in the central midfield and while in the outside right. Edwin as always gave great effort as did L. I am very proud of the boys for their effort, the way they settled down and moved the ball and for their refusal to lose. I'm still pumped up over this win.
