AS WITH ANY SPORT YOU PLAY AS AN ADULT, THERE IS A DEGREE OF DANGER WHICH INVOLVES POTENTIAL INJURY. JUST PLAY THE GAME. IF THERE ARE ILLEGAL BATS, TOO BAD. IF YOU ARE SCARED, SAY YOU ARE SCARED AND QUIT. THE BATS AREN'T GOING AWAY. BUT MAYBE THE SISSYS SHOULD GO AWAY.

Next Year why don't we have each team pay $ 75 for a portable bat compression tester, and prior to the start of the season have a meeting to test and label each approved bat. Then only the approved bats will be allowed to be used and it ends all the questions and accusations about illegal bats. If someone gets a new bat during the season have one person designated to keep the tester with them, and on game days bats can be tested where the designated tester team is playing. This might be a little inconvenient but it will solve the problem.

"Same four teams"...that's half the problem. I've seen a ton of comments over the years of teams calling out other teams or particular players accusing them of using illegal bats but never like this. This one is blowing up! Why? Because Canfields (or Mader) thinks the only teams allowed to beat them are Energy, Barley and Trimax. Everyone else should lay down. Must be illegal bats! The comment that a 100 year old catcher short hopped the fence is a complete exaggeration. He's a vet that set you up! Dunking balls in all night and as soon as you tried to take it away with a "very" short outfield defense he burned a line drive over your heads and the ball "eventually" reached the fence. I saw the guy hit a homer during BP with an aluminum bat at the Jaycee Park but don't give him any credit. Just assume he can't hit anymore. Juiced bat! Your left fielder hit a homer. Your catcher hit a couple of balls to the fence if he got any air under them would have gone out. Your 1st baseman hit a major bomb to deep right center, probably the furthest ball hit all night but that's legit because your Canfields. Energy has a few losses but they're not whining or making accusations. Neither did Trimax when they lost. McCarthy's beat the crap out of us and we said nice job! And we were picked to sweep them just like you were picked to sweep us. Don't give us credit though...juiced bats. Just because you believe it doesn't mean it's true or that your right!

League Vet the idea of anyone can use any bat would take away the competitive advantage of illegal bats but would do nothing for player safety. Hopefully we never have someone get seriously hurt because of an illegal bat, but if it does happen there is alot of people that would have done nothing about it. To start maybe it's time for the team managers to make sure the players on their team are not using any illegal or dangerous bats. Then the league should come up with some plan to lessen the risk of someone getting hurt because of this. Someone commented earlier that if you ban composite bats the same four teams woul be at top, so be it at least everyone would be a safer. I agree that we should look into changing the balls if necessary, but no matter what the top priority should be to get rid off the illegal bats. Also, if you need to cheat in Wednesday night softball that's pathetic.

I'd say put all the bats out for all to use. The bats are usually $300. Inspect the bat before you use it. Have the ump check them. Use whatever bat you want. You break it? You pay for it! $300 the max. Even though the harder to get bats are going for more money. Because they seem to break in the best and get the most pop. But still remain unaltered. That is why these teams use these bats. Miken freak 98. The Demarini white steel. Worth mayhem and toxic's. The Easton synergy and stealth. These bats are from before asa changed the standards. They break in very well. And the teams that use them know it too! Trimax doesn't use their Freak just because they like the fancy red taped grip. They use it because they know it hits the ball more than 98mph. Energy's the same way. The neon bat? Cmon now! They know it hits harder than 98mph. Why do you think they all use it. It doesn't mean the bats illegal? It was never altered at all. But it broke in real good. They hit the ball closer to 100+mph. These teams know it too! Why do you think McCarthy's whole team uses the old 2006 Easton stealth? Because it hits harder than any of their current bats! Hello??
Cheap Bastards

I can tell you why the cheap bastards in this league who had balls left over from last year voted against it. They are the same guys how complain about 100 year old catchers hitting home runs. Oh and saying there team doesn't have an illegal bat. It's funny how the teams accused of have shaved bats brought up switching balls at the league meetings this winter. The cheap bastards are the reason why we still have problems. As the old saying goes if you ain't cheat you ain't trying.

Alloy can be doctored just as easy as composite. A shaved alloy won't go as far as composite but it will still go a good distance past the original. Plus there are many other ways to doctor a bat besides shaving. I've been hearing good things about the .52/300 balls though. They are slower and safer on the ground and still fly pretty well. Leagues that use them now are saying it stops the little guys using the shavers from hitting them out. The ball also dies if u hit them too high(shaved bat pop up home runs). Not sure why we haven't switched to this ball already since asa sanctioned it.

Cold hard facts you don't have to get your bat shaved to make it illegal. Any team with a composite bat that has 500-600 hits on it probably won't pass an ASA compression test making it illegal. So before you go running your mouth at who has illegal bars and who doesn't you should get your facts straight. Let's go back to aluminum bats at won't make a difference the top 4 teams will still be the same

My team doesn't have an illegal bat. Serengetti doesn't have one. I can't be sure about every team we've played, but I have reason to believe at least two others don't. We are half-way thru our schedule, so I don't know about some of the other teams. Is there any way to alter an alloy bat? If not, it seems like a good suggestion.

Lets face it. Every team has illegal bats. The only way to stop it is to ban all composite bats. Miken, Easton, Worth, Combat and Demarini all make an alloy bat. It would make the game a whole lot better. A pitcher in this league is gonna get killed !!!!!!

As an infielder in this league, it's not a good feeling knowing that the next pitch could be going through your face because some knucklehead has to use a juiced bat

Being a wednesday night hero seems to hold more merit then the concern over the safety and integrity of this league and the players. Its sad that you have guys and there are a ton in this league that love the idea of winning with juiced bats then play the game the right way. The arguing about it is pointless because nobody will ever do a thing to stop it.........but hell its a great bar story to tell people how awesome you were when you cheated in a wednesday night softball league

One possible solution, not so far-fetched to me as it once was - wooden bats. Boy, it would seem taht it would certainly eliminate this controversy. By the way, contrary to what a select few of you say, not every team has a questionable bat. Think about who you've played this year. You know the teams that have had them and the teams that haven't. So far, I'm fairly certain of three that fall into the latter category.

we lose games every year and we lose to you guys here and there but in 10yrs you guys have never hit the ball that far and your much older now clearing the fence by 40ft at stroudsburg that old guy 1 hopping the fence? come on!! only a few of you even hit it over our left field fence at paradise its easy for new guys in the league to lie about it but when you know someone for that long no way guys.

Pitchers with children at home will probably be more concerened with getting hit with a softball in a meaningless softball game than most others. Just somthing to think about when you talk shit about doctoed bats being part of the game. Good for you Mike!
