2019 Spring Football 8 on 8 Registration Opens!

Is your child interested in getting a jump start on the fall football season? 

1st Down Athletics is happy to announce in-person registration for our Spring Tackle Football 8on8 teams

Players between 7-14 years old as of July 31, 2019

Cost: $200 per player

Player Levels:                    8U, 9U, 10U, 12u, and 14U

Cost includes:   Game jersey, 5 Season Games, 2 Weeks of Playoffs (Top 4 Division Teams Only)

Registration and Jersey Fitting will take place at the Bolingbrook Recreational Athletic Center (BRAC) from 10am - 1pm on the following dates:

  • January 26th
  • February 9th
  • February 23th
  • March 9th
  • March 23th

 The BRAC is located at  200 Lindsey Ln, Bolingbrook, IL 60440

Please bring a copy of your child's birth certificate and physical and registration.

Objective: For kids to get a start on conditioning, drills and overall knowledge of the game of football before the fall season. It’s also a way for coaches to work on game plans, improve coaching techniques and gain a better understanding of game management.

What is 8 on 8 Football: 8 on 8 football is the same game as 11 on 11 football minus three players on both sides of the ball. Different versions of the game may include field width and length, game time length, formation specifics, penalties, scoring, etc. etc.

Levels of Play:

Kids will be placed on one of five Levels (8u, 9u, 10u,12u & 14u). Eligibility will be based on the age of the Child July 31st 2019. 

Season/Hosting:

The Season will open and be played on every Weekend starting April 27th. The Championship game will be Sunday June 1st (Weather Permitted)

·         Schedule will be made available a Week prior to Week 1 games

·         Home teams will be on visitor’s side of field visitors will be on home side of field.

o   Home and or Host Site will be responsible for Chain Gang

·         Mother’s Day falls on Week 2 of Schedule and those games will be played on Saturday instead of Sunday.

·         In case of a rain out, games will automatically be made up that following Saturday

o   For example, Week 3 (May 20th) gets rained out. Games will then be played Saturday May26th. Week 4 games will be played that Sunday (May27th)

§  In the event we have a rainout Week1 games will be moved to that next Saturday (May12th) and Week 2 games will be moved to that Sunday. (May 13th)

·        Game schedules are to be determined

 

Game & Field:

·         8u & 9u will play on 100 yard fields

o   Two coaches per side of the ball are allowed on the field during the game.

·         10u and up will play on standard 100 yard fields

o   Coaches must be on the side line and follow standard side line etiquette

·         There will be two 20 mins halves with a running clock. Half Time will be 8 minutes.

o   The clock will stop only on injury, timeouts, penalties, extra point attempts and change of possession.

There are no special teams at all

 

Scoring:

·         Touchdown is 6 points

o   PAT – rushing is 1pt

o   PAT – passing is 2pts.

§  The pass has to cross the line of scrimmage to be considered for 2pts.

o   Passes behind the line of scrimmage will be considered rushing PAT

 

**Space per team will be limited to 20 per team, so register early as there is a huge demand.
