 2013 Season Recap

37-22 (.627)
275-160 (.632) *career record

We started out the 2013 season playing in the groundhog tournament and that was a pretty rough go as we lost our first game 5-3, to give us a 0-1 record on the year and in the one and out tournament. The next tournament we would play was a little round robin at Kenton Lakes. In the first game of that round robin we routed Vito's Boomsticks 18-4 in 4 innings in what was probably our most complete game of the year. Next up we played our rivals C&F Softball/No Skillz and neither team played particularly well but we came out on top 12-4. In the tournament finals we played The Replacements and rolled, winning 21-3 to give us the Championship with a 3-0 record in the tourney. It was a very complete tournament by us with great pitching, solid hitting, and good fielding. Holding 3 opponents to a combined 11 runs in 3 games is impressive. We finished the Friday Night Men's upper doubleheader spring session at Rivercity with a 9-7 record, which was good enough for a 4th place finish. Not terrible for our first time in that league given the tough competition. The summer session saw some of the bottom half teams of the upper league drop out or down as we went from 9 teams to 5 teams in the upper division. We finished 8-8 in that session which landed us smack dab in the middle of the standings at 3rd place. While the summer session was going on there we had a couple bye weeks were we took our team to Kenton Lakes and we filled in for a team who had dropped out. We had a little light man power and it showed as we went 2-2. The fall session at Rivercity saw a change as they combined the leagues going from an upper, middle, and lower to just an upper and lower. As we always do we stayed in the upper league along with the other 4 teams from the summer session upper league but they bumped some of the middle league teams to join us. We caught fire and finished the summer session with a 12-2 record which made us champions of the 2013 GSL men's upper fall Friday night league. We finished the 2013 season with a 37-22 record improving on last years record by having the same number of wins but 5 less losses. Great job guys we also added 2 more championships to our resume and a lot of great memories!  Special thanks to our sponsor Longnecks Sports Grill for continued sponsorship which helped us enjoy the season!

 2012 Season Recap

37-27(.578%)
238-138(.633) *career record

To start off the 2012 campaign we played in the groundhog and it wasn't the start we were looking for as we went 0-1. That loss was given to us by Dale's Drunks in a game were we had 10 k's as a team, it was a pretty rough start. The next time we took the field would be in a Pre-Season Warm Up Round Robin and we would go 2-1, good enough for 2nd place outright. In the first game we played Carlisle & Fitch and won 13-3 after 5 innings a pretty good game for us for the first real game of the year. Next up we played the Heat and had a battle, after being down 9-3 after the 1st inning we clawed our way back scoring in all 7 innings, propelling us to a 17-15 win. The final game of the round robin was against dirty truckers for 1st place, both teams were undefeated, they proved to have better conditioned legs and went on to beat us 12-4. The next round robin we got in was a B/C/D NSA Round Robin, and that wasnt a great decision as we lost to Moose Lodge and Good Guys both are upper teams. But we did manage to get 1 win against heat, so we finished 1-2 which tied us for 4th place out of 7 teams. In the 3 HR Spring/Summer session at Kenton Lakes we went 10-8 which tied us for 5th place out of 13 teams, not very good. Our next tournament was the E NSA Poor Boys Qualifier. In the first round of this 2-n-out tournament we played Last Call and are gloves were the best they've been all year as we twisted 3 double plays and didn't make an error en route to a 12-7 win. In the 2nd round we had to play Who's Next and the gloves were just as amazing and we hit the cover off of it as well, which carried us to a 18-3 win! In the winners brackett finals we had to play a hot young team named PSI Chamberlain/Young and Restless and they got the better half of us as we lost 17-10. The next game would be the loser's brackett finals and Last Call had battled there way back to get a re-match. In they rematch they bested us 15-14 in a very close game. We finished 3rd with a record of 2-2Next up we played in The Dirty Truckers Benefit Tournament where we lost to T&W Electric in the first game and then went on to roll Marty's Team and Southwest Ohio Ducks, propelling us to 2-1 record which was good enough for runner up. After that strong finish we thought we had righted the ship and were going to get hot just in time for the E NSA Bluegrass games. But that wasn't the case as we only went 2-2, which gave us a 13th place finish out of 35 teams. Then next up on our schedule was the 2012 NSA E State. We put together a great run in this tournament finishing 5-2 good enough for 5th place out of 33 teams both of our losses came against TBones we went in to be the state runner up. It was one of our most impressive tournaments to date as we really batteled to make it that far. In the Summer Session at Kenton Lakes we finished with an 11-7 record which put us in 3rd place not where we wanted to be but all in all it was a good year as we finished the season with a 37-27 record. We want to give a special thankhs to our new sponser Longnecks Sports Grill who helps us play the game we love!

2011 Season Recap

44-21(.677%)201-111(.644%)*career record
The 2011 Season is now over we started this season by playing in the Groundhog Tournament. In the first game of that tourney we played Big Pete's House of Muench and got a run rule victory by a score of 11-1. Then we played Just One More and won 4-1 to advance us to the final four on Sunday at the VFW. On Championship day we played Schultz Builders and lost 8-4 to tie for 3rd place with a 2-1 record(It's a one and out tournament). We played 4 practice games this year going 3-1 beating The Bevs, C&C Painting, T&W Electric, and then loosing to Lite's Out/Covington Moose Lodge. Are 2nd tournament of the year was a NSA E Qualifier at Softball City and are first game was against Main Event a game that we won 13-8. After that we had M&J and we managed a run rule win with a score of 17-7. After a break we had the Southwest Ohio Ducks and pulled off another 10 run rule win with a score of 13-1. That win put us in the semi finals against Phat Katz and somehow we squeaked out a win 8-6 to advance to the championship game. Where we would see a familar opponent in M&J who had battled all the way back to the finals but there winning ways would stop there as we went on to a 22-12 run rule victory to win the tournament going 5-0 and getting are world berth! Are next tournament was the Lindsey Sendelback Memorial Tournament and we started the tournament off against Lloyd a game in which we played very well. We won this contest 24-4. Are next game was against 5 time defending champion, Schultz Builders and it was a nail bitter. We found ourselves in the bottom of the 7th with two outs Mike Eten on 2nd base, Paul Van Benschoten on 1st, Adam Rauch at the plate, and in an 11-11 game. Adam Rauch delivered just as he has done all year driving in the run to advance us to the winners brackett finals with a 12-11 win. In the winner brackett finals we played Guidugli's Lawn Care and lost 24-13. Are next game was the losers brackett final where we played T&W Electric and we won 15-14 to advance to the championship game! Now in this tournament there is no double dip, its a one game no holds bar winner takes all for the finals. So we only had to knock off Guidugli's once which we did with a score of 18-10 to win the 2011 Lindsey Sendelback Tournament with a record of 4-1! Are regular season was once again played at kenton lakes in the Friday Night 3 HR NSA Mens open league. We finished the spring/summer session of the regular season 12-6 to give us a 5th place finish out of 13 teams. Shortly after that ended we played in The Bluegrass Games going 2-2 bad enough to tie for 16th place. In that tourney we played Ballhawks for are first game losing 16-13 then we headed to the losers brackett. In the 1st round of the losers brackett we played Creepers winning 15-6. Are next opponent was dirty laundry and we were able to win a 7-6 defensive struggle. The next game was against Lites Out Softball and they ripped the cover off of the ball beating us 18-6. Are next tournament was the 2011 Kentucky Mens E NSA State Tournament. Our first game was against R2L and in a defensive struggle we squeezed out a 5-3 victory behind some great defense and pitching. We then drew Screwballs and are bats woke up as we went on too a run rule victory 19-5 in 5 innings led offensively by are new addition Ryan Vaughn who went 3-3 with 3-1B, 4 RBI's and a run scored in this game. We had another great picthing performance out of Nick Ziegler and some solid gloves behind him. Are next game was in the Elite 8 and we had to play Playersville something that didnt work out well for us, as we got beat handly 17-1, dropping us to the losers brackett. In the losers brackett we had to play After Hours bright and early Sunday morning and we scored 9 runs in the first inning and 1 in the bottom of the 5th to carry us on to a 10-0 run rule victory. We then had to play a familar foe in M&J and we lost on a contreversial call at the plate against a real good team 5-4. We finished 3-2 good enough for 7th place 6 spots short of are goal though. In the Summer/Fall session at Kenton Lakes we finished 12-6 again but this time it was good enough to be tied for 3rd place instead of 5th. Are overall record was 24-12 which put us in 3rd Place in the Ironman standings as well. By winning that qualifier in May we got a berth to the NSA World Series in Indianapolis and for are first time ever we played in a world tournament. We went into the tournament missing several key players but started it off right with a first round bye and then beating Venom 15-10. But things got rough in a hurry as we lost in extra innings 13-12 to Team tragic and never recovered mentally getting worked 17-7 by kaspers in the next game. We finished 17th out of 42 teams which isnt terrible for are first world but still a major disappointment for us! Overall the 2011 Season was alot of fun and we look forward to doing it all again next year!

2010 Season Recap

36-18(.667%)157-90(.636%)*career record
We started off the 2010 season in the Groundhog Tournament. Are first game was against Big Pete's House of Muench, we won this affair 5-4 in 5 innings after hitting the hour limit. The second game we hit the hour limit as well in the fifth inning but since we were tied we played on, in a back and fourth game eventually losing in the bottom of the 8th 18-17 to Susan's Salon. Which gave us an 8th place finish out of 20 teams to start are year off (it's a one and out tournament)! Then we finished 2nd out of 14 teams in the first session of the Friday Night NSA 3 HR open League at Kenton Lakes with a 15-3 record. In are first summer tournament we played in the Lindsey Sendelback Memorial Tournament for the fourth year in a row! The first game we played Mitches Bitchs and won 13-0 recording are first no hitter of the year pitched by Nick Ziegler, then we had The Arnolds and won 18-2, next up was 4 time defending champions Schultz Builders who beat us 12-8 in a great back and fourth game, after that loss we had to win to make it to the finals and we were playing The Nasty Boys who we took into the 8th inning tied 15-15 when they hit a walk off grand slam to win it 19-15, eliminating us and giving us a third place finish for the second year in a row going 2-2! We then went down and played in the E NSA Bluegrass games for the first time ever. In the first game we pulled out a real close one winning 11-10 against the bombers. For are next game we were paired up against blitz softball and after an extended lightning delay we won another nail biter 19-18 to make it to sunday undefeated and in the elite 8 round! So saturday night we deciceded to go out and celebrate, that turned out to be a bad decision. We showed up sunday half drunk, half hung over, and not ready to play. It showed as Yard Dogs beat us easily with a score of 26-16 and then the next game we lost to Weiss Construction 14-13. A game in which we were winning 13-2 in the bottom of the 7th when are wheels fell off. So we finished 2-2 on the tournament good enough to tie for 9th out of 37 teams but bad enough to know we have plenty of room for improvement. Are next Tournament was the E NSA state tournament. For our first game we drew TPS/Pony Express and are bats were cold but fortunatly we caught just about everything they hit giving us the win 10-4. The second round game was against Pearson Construction, in this game we continued to glove it and woke the bats up as we ten run ruled them 15-5. Advancing us to another elite 8 but this time we got to play the elite game on saturday night which made a difference as we played RBI beating them 17-16. We were the only team to beat RBI all weekend as they would come back through the losers brackett and win the whole tournament, Way to go RBI you guys deserved it! So we made it to sunday 3-0 and in the final four of the winners brackett. Are first game was against after hours and we had the sunday morning blues again as we lost 15-5 forgetting how to hit in that game. So on to the losers brackett we went, where we played Young Guns first game, they were on fire when we played them but are bats woke back up and we managed to win 17-14. We then had to face RBI again and they had been killing the ball since we beat them saturday and it didn't change in this game as they beat us 16-5. Overall it was a great tournament for us going 4-2 and finishing 4th out of 25 teams. Dustin Martin made the all tournament team with a .783 avg./ 1.000 slg./ .792 obp./ 11 runs, 3 doubles, 1 triple, 5 RBI's, 15 Put outs, and an assist. Way to go D mart that was the most impressive hitting display anyone has ever had for RA softball! In the second session of the Friday Night NSA 3 HR open League at Kenton Lakes we finished 11-7 bad enough to tie us for 6th place are worst finish up there yet!

2009 Season Recap

35-19(.648%)121-72(.627%)*career record
In usual fashion we kicked off the season in the groundhog tournament. In unusual fashion we did good, going 9 innings in the first game winning against a big rival Big Pete's House of Muench! Then we cruised through the next game with a run rule win making it to sunday and the final four for the first time ever. On sunday we came out against a better team hung over and lost to finish with a tie for 3rd place. Which was our best finish ever in the groundhog! The Next Tournament a NSA D Qualifier we went 0-4 to finish last. We didn't hit or glove it very well at all
Are next tournament was the Lindsey Sendelbach Memorial Tournament and we came out hitting early winning the first one in a shootout! Then we had three time defending champions Schultz Builders and we rolled run ruling them 19-1 for the first time ever! But then reality hit as we lost a game 6-5 to a team we had previously never lost too! After regrouping we rolled the next game in an impressive offensive performance to make it to the loser brackett finals against Schultz Builders! Who beat us en route to there 4th consecutive title in this tournament having won it every year now! We finished in 3rd going 3-2. Are League nights this year were kind of a disappointment with a third of are team getting married during this season we were missing players for large parts of the season. we finished in 4th place going 13-5 in the first session, 3rd place in the second session with a 13-3 record, and in the iron man full league standings we finished 26-8 good enough for 3rd overall. Are next tournament was are first ever NSA E Super NIT we played good defense through out it and hit pretty good overall as a team! We managed to rattle off the first two games with wins in fairly close ball games! Then in the final four of the winners brackett our bats took a cat nap as we lost to show stoppers! Drunken monkeys caught us on are wake up round as we beat them! Then we hit a wall out of gas and against a very good team U&W local and they took advantage of it thumping us! But we still managed to place earning a trophy and 4th place finish going 3-2 in a 20+ team tourney! Jeff Henry got all tournament team honors going 13-16(.813)avg. 15-18(.833)obp. 7R, 13 RBI's, HR, 3B, 3-2B, 22 PO, 4 assists. Overall a good success. the Last tournament of the year was NSA E State at Athens in Lexington. We were thoroughly thumped in our first game managing only one run. The second game are bats woke up for an inning as we ruled on to a run rule victory carried by that one inning of offense! But the third game was more disappointment as we lost to Pro Drywall who we had beat earlier in the year in the NIT! Eliminating us and giving us a tie for 24th place not very good. But overall another fun winning season for the RA Boys!

2008 Season Recap

42-14(.750%)86-53(.619%)*career recordWith the coming of the 2008 season we made a change as we decided to play NSA instead of USSSA which proved to be a great decision for us as we had a blast doing it! We played are leagues at Kenton Lakes on Friday nights for the first time, which is the only NSA ball park in the tri-state. In the first session we went 19-1 winning the title. The second session brought more losses for us as we went 13-7 good enough for 4th place. They also give a league title to the best record of both sessions combined(which counts as a qualifier win since they have 16 teams in each session of the league night) We won that going 32-8 overall! The NSA tournaments was a learning experience with the negative run progressive homerun rules but we faired okay overall. You can see tournament details if you click on Tournament results for 2008 on your right hand index!

2007 Season Recap

25-24(.510%)44-39(.530%)*career recordAs we kicked off are third season we played in the groundhog again, managing are first win in the groundhog! The following game we struggled to see the ball though and it showed as we got beat easily by JLC.(or most of there guys at least) For the regular season this year we played at two locations in our first ever majors league at riverstar and at huddy park in the 3HR top league for the first time. Although we took some beatings by moving up in our leagues, it showed in our tournament production and we still managed to win the summer session at Huddy! We again entered the Lindsey Sendelbach tournament doing very well this year going 3-2 with our only losses to the future repeat champions Schultz Builders and Guidugli Brothers the future repeat runners up, hopefully we'll figure out how to beat either of those guys sometime! We entered are first ever NIT this year as well going 2-2 at Bat Wars one win from making it to day two! After that NIT we played in a D Qualifier at Huddy Park and won going 3-0(4-0 counting a forfeit win, which we don't count). We beat the S&A Show in the finals with a walk off in the park homer from Mike Eten! After the amount of fun we had in the first NIT we tried a second one at Rivershore and drew JLC(defending champions of the last NIT) first round beating them in a barn burner 5-3! Then we faltered losing two in a row to draw are season to a close!

2006 Season Recap

9-3(.750%)19-15(.559%)*career recordIn our second year of softball we lost the league night scorebooks so our record only reflects the tournaments. Which was unfortunate for us because we won our first ever league night. We played are League Nights at Huddy Park finishing in 3rd place for the first session and then won the summer session for our first league title! Then we played are only fall ball session ever at rivershore winning it and going undefeated for the first time ever!(None of that goes in are career records unfortunately, but we still claim those titles!) The tournaments are a different story though we do have those scorebooks. For the second straight year we played in the groundhog, this year drawing Two-n-Out to tip off our season. After Mike Eten smoked Shaun Sproles in the chug off they smoked us on the field dropping us to 0-1 on the season, but we got another consolidation 12 pack, and this year almost all the guys were old enough to drink it! Our next Tournament was a USSSA "E" Qualifier at expressway that we swept going 3-0 for are first tournament championship and a berth to the "E" Regionals at eggelston(they sanctioned us Ohio for some reason, oops!) We then played in the inagural Lindsey Sendelbach Tournament going 3-2 to finish 4th out of 12 teams!(this tournament is very special to all of us, Lindsey Rest in Peace!) To finish off our year we played in the "E" Regionals at Eggelston, getting a first round bye in a two-n-out format tournament we then went 3-0 to win it(17 teams total) which qualified us for world and bumped us to "D" the following year. Unfortunately hurricane ike(I think) hit and we decided to not go ending our 2006 season!

2005 Season Recap

10-12(.455%)In our rookie season of softball we found out quick softball and baseball are alot different! Are first lesson came in the groundhog tournament, which isn't quite real softball but a blast non the less, where we were matched up against Guidugli Brothers first game and took a lesson in humulity as we went 0-1 by the means of recieving are first ever run rule, thanks Joe and Greg for that! But as a consoliation prize we were awarded with a twelve pack of bud, that only the of age players drank I assure you! We then started our first ever league night at the VFW & California Ball Field where we started out very slow but managed to rebound and finish 7-9, good enough for 3rd place out of 8 teams! Then came the end of season tournament were we learned K-mart special bats and big heads(due to ending the season on a 5 game tear) will help you go 0-2 and tie for last, another lesson learned the hard way! With that bitter taste in are mouth we decided to enter are first ever USSSA "E" Qualifier. It was at riverstar where we went 2-1 to finish in 2nd place and complete are first ever softball season!
