'25-'26 REGISTRATION AND TRY-OUT INFORMATION

Monday, October 20, 2025 - Thursday, October 23, 2025

The Manheim Township Travel Basketball Association will be holding tryouts for interested 4^th, 5^th and 6^th grade girls & boys.  Please review our information related to the league we participate and skills requirements we review during try-outs.  If your son and/or daughter is interested, please click on the link below and regester now.  We are excited for another exciting season in 2025-2026 for all of our teams!

Please have your child bring the following with them to tryouts: 

• Tryout Fee:  There is a $5 fee that is due the evening of the tryout at the door.  This is only due one time.  Please bring cash (preferable) or a check with you.
• Individual water bottle for your child.  Water fountains may not be available at the tryout facility.
• Players are required to attend try-outs to be eligible on any team unless otherwise communicated by MTTBA

Other Important Details: 

•  Children should NOT bring their own basketballs to tryouts. Please leave your basketballs at home.
• Parents and spectators are asked to remain outside the building during the tryouts.  Only players and volunteers will be allowed into the gym.  Parents will have to sign a waiver for their child
• No parent volunteer of any player trying out for the team will be part of their child’s evaluation process.  For example, a parent volunteer or coach of a 5th grade boy will not perform the evaulation for that team.  Players are evaluated anonymously and will be evaluated on current skill and talent level.  Each player will be given numbered jerseys for identification. 
• Coaches are determined following try-outs and the selection of players for each team.  Once the teams are established, we will assign coaches and parent volunteers accordingly.  If you are interested in volunteering and/or coaching, please acknowledge this during registration.
• The L-L Travel League we participate in uses 10 foot baskets for all genders and grades.  In addition, 4th, 5th grade boys & girls, and 6th grade girls will use a 28.5" Size-6 basketball.  6th grade boys will use a 29.5" Size-7 adult basketball.  Please note, 4th, 5th grade girls will shoot free throws from a taped line one foot closer to the hoop.  We will follow all of these conditions during our tryouts.
• To help you determine if trying out for a team this year makes sense for your child, please understand that we are expecting them to exhibit most of these skills during tryouts: 
  1. 1. Ball Handling:  Both hands with eyes up
     2. Footwork:  Pivoting, sliding feet, no traveling, etc.
     3. Passing:  Emphasis on bounce/chest passes
     4. Shooting:  Form shooting, foul shots, using backboard
     5. Layups:  Right hand, left hand, consistency
     6. Defense:  Man-to-Man, aggressive but no fouling
     7. Rebounding:  Box out, going after ball off backboard
     8. Competitive:  Translation of skills, interest to game setting

BOYS TRYOUTS: Tuesday, October 21 & Thursday, October 23

• 4^th & 5^th graders will tryout: 6:00pm - 7:30pm
• 6^th graders will tryout: 7:30pm - 9:00pm
•  Location: MT Middle School Gym

GIRLS TRYOUTS: Monday, October 20 & Wednesday, October 22

• 4^th & 5^th graders will tryout: 6:00pm - 7:30pm
• 6^th graders will tryout: 7:30pm - 9:00pm
