The Midland Girls Softball League (MGSL) is a 501c3 non-profit youth softball organization for girls age 5-15. We offer leagues & camps throughout the year. In our spring league (Ages 5-13), girls sign up individually and are placed onto a team by the league. Games are played from mid April to early June. All games are played at Optimist park. In the summer, we offer two leagues: Travel and Recreational. The Travel League (age divisions 10U to 18U) is designed for established teams. Complete teams register with the MGSL, play is very competitive, and games are played from mid June through early August. The Summer Recreational League (Ages 5-15), is designed for players of all skill levels. Girls sign up individually and are placed onto a team by the league. Summer Recreational League games are played from early July through mid August. All games are played at either Optimist park or Emerson park.
MGSL also offers clinics, camps, and training sessions throughout the year. Clinics provide girls the ability to learn softball from an expert coach through a host of drills and game scenarios. Camps offer a structured environment which players can advance their game while working with experienced coaches and older players. Training sessions are less structured (drop in). They provide players with exposure to different coaches and additional opportunities to develop their skills in a practice type setting. All camp offerings are posted on our website, generally a minimum of 30 days prior to the first session.
MGSL Mission Statement
To provide an appropriately challenging, high-quality recreational softball experience for all interested young ladies, ages 5 - 15. Emphasis is placed on the safety, physical fitness, sportsmanship, and self esteem of all our players.
MGSL Vision Statement
We will have enough girls participating at each age level to have balanced competitive divisions in each age group from 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 & 11-13. We will have top-notch facilities and equipment. All girls will have an opportunity to participate regardless of financial situation or natural ability. We will have continuous growth in the program with enthusiastic support from girls, coaches, parents, team sponsors, and the Midland Parks and Recreation Department. We will have energetic, cooperative board members who represent the interests of all age groups. Due to these efforts, many girls will develop advanced softball interest and skills, resulting in personal and team achievement not otherwise possible.
