CONGRATULATIONS to BRETT WHITE for winning GOLD at the
WCCA meet in the LONG JUMP!
Our MS throws coach, Sean Cartwright, was awarded the Soldier’s Medal for heroic action in a noncombat situation. He and his company showed a huge amount of heroism in their actions that day. I know his fellow coaches are very proud of him, and we are all happy is on staff with us.

Way to go Brett!
Brett Trottier closed out his varsity cross country career Saturday at the PIAA championships, and he realized his goal of running at the state's biggest event. The Franklin Regional senior took to the 3.1-mile course for the boys Class AAA race at the Hershey Giant Center Complex with 239 other runners, and he battled through cold and windy conditions to place 100th overall.
Trottier punched his ticket to states with a medal-winning 16th-place performance at WPIALs one week earlier. At WPIALs, he ran to a time of 16:57 in sunny, cool and breezy conditions.
On Saturday, the field had to run through temperatures 15 to 20 degrees colder and against a headwind that toyed with some of the runners. Trottier finished his run at states in a time of 17:10, and he made up ground throughout the race. He found himself in 133rd position after the first mile run in a time of 5:08. The first third features a flatter track with a downhill portion, as well.
There were 50 runners that ran the first mile in a time between 5:07 and 5:11, so large portions of the field had yet to space themselves out. Trottier reduced his position 15 places to 118th after the second mile and checked in with a time of 10:45 for a 5:22 pace. With more hills in the second and third miles, Trottier again made a move to the finish line. He passed 18 more runners down the stretch to reach 100th overall.
The top 72 runners in the boys AAA race finished with times below 17 minutes.
Trottier was the 19th WPIAL runner to cross the finish line.
