HS Pine Richland Invite - Friday, April 28th, 2019

April 28, 2019

This Friday, April 28th, 2019 is the last HS meet of the season before the individual Championship round begins.  A list of athletes invited to Pine Richland were emailed to all today.  I know there is a lot going on this time of year so if an athlete cannot attend, that's okay.  This meet is really for those close to qualifying to get one more shot at improving their mark.  Relay members should make all efforts to attend for one last push towards Championships. If an athlete has not hit a qualifying mark on Friday, there season has ended and they can drop off their clean, marked in a ziplock bag uniform to me the following Monday. More information about the meet will be sent out soon.

HS - We are going to the playoffs!

April 16, 2019

Congratulations to HS Men's track and field team for going 6-0 this season and 3-peating as Section Champions! The final score today was Central Catholics 61 Franklin Regional 89. Everyone doubted that the team could rebound from last year's losses and here they are. A congratulations goes out to the HS Women's team as well for a hard fought meet. It took Oakland all 18 events to beat us with a score of 78-72. Final record for the Women is 5-1. Both teams will compete in the playoffs, location not officially determined yet. I'm very proud of them all.

Also a big thank you to everyone who helped out today with senior recognition. Well done.

HS - Another Victory!

April 10, 2019

Gateway put up the toughest fight so far but both the FR Men and Women were able to come out with victories and improve their record to 5-0.  Both teams scored over 120 points against Woodland Hills. The Women won 89-60, the Men won 88-62 against Gateway.  A very special congratulations goes out to Aly Kindleberger who broke the school record in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet 4 inches. Today’s wins qualified both teams for the playoffs.  The Championship meet is next Tuesday.  Great job everyone!!

Varsity Attendance Concerns

March 25, 2019

HS Athletes and Parents,

Coach Ralston has requested Boosters to share the following message:

Hello FR Track Families,

I’m writing about our attendance issue. We are missing 40 to 60 students every day. It seems we have a number of kids who are showing up once or twice a week which is absolutely unacceptable.  It’s a liability. I worry that a child might be telling you they are at practice when they are somewhere else and I don’t have enough hours in the day to follow up with 40-60 kids to see where they were, every day!

This week we face Plum.  I will have a complete lineup for that meet.  After that meet we will know what athlete did what event and then they are assigned to a coach which they will check in with daily.   Everyone starts fresh today with attendance but if they have three unexcused absences from now on then I will ask them not to return. If a student does not compete at Plum and was not on the lineup then I assume they quit. The line up will be on the ticket booth door for three days and kids are to let me know if they aren’t on it. If I don’t hear anything by Wednesday then I must assume that child has quit the team.

I understand these kids have a lot of activities they participate in but if they are going to miss they need to come talk to me.  It’s not fair to ask the coaches to stop what they are doing to try to catch up kids that miss all the time. And it’s certainly not fair to the serious athletes that are trying to improve their performance.  And most of all, it’s just not safe to have this many kids unaccounted for daily.

Thank you,

Coach Ralston
