Padres' 10-run inning propels them to the next round!

Evan Cross and the Padres had a "here we go again" moment early when they gave up a five-run first inning to the Giants and failed to score in the bottom half. With the new five-run mercy rule, the Giants did not score in the second inning. The tides turned in the Padres favor when they hit a tape measure three-run home run then followed by another home run. With the score still being in the Giants favor (5-4), the Giants just needed one more out to get out of the inning.

Then it all broke loose. The Padres got a couple knocks and a walk to load the bases. Clearly, pitcher Ryan Cross for the Giants was getting tired quickly. The next at-bat resulted in a walk, now evening the score. Within seconds of stepping in the box, Evan Cross torched a go-ahead grand salami to left field, turning the game upside down. The Padres added one more run with their fourth long ball of the game, making it a 10-5 game as it went to the third inning. Now, it was all about finishing the job. The Giants did score off a double, but the Padres retired the Giants with three Ks to punch their ticket to the Wild Card Series.

Evan was fired up after the game and relieved that his Padres can forget their woes of the past. This was the first ever postseason win for the organization and will face the winner of the Nationals/Braves game in the Wild Card Series.
