🎖️ Honoring Paul Harrington – A Special Tribute Game
by Miles Bryne
We are pleased to announce a special tribute in honor of Paul Harrington, Founder and Chairman of the Boston Adult Baseball League (BABL), who has dedicated over two decades to building and sustaining a vibrant community of adult baseball players across Greater Boston.
On Sunday, August 24 at 11:00 AM, the 60+ Braves and BlueJays played a rescheduled game at Grafton High School, just a few miles from Paul’s home. This event was held to allow Paul—who has not attended a game in two years due to serious health challenges—to once again experience the joy of the game he has given so much to.
Prior to the game, a brief ceremony was held on the mound to present Paul with a personalized Cooperstown Bat, engraved with his name and title. We invite all attendees to bring a handwritten thank-you card to express their appreciation. These will be collected and presented to Paul as a gesture of gratitude for his extraordinary contributions.
Since founding BABL in 2003, Paul has created a space where men of all backgrounds—regardless of age, experience, or means—can continue to enjoy the game of baseball. Today, the league includes four divisions (38+, 45+, 52+, 60+) and 25 teams, with games played throughout the season at fields within Route 128.
Paul has served as Commissioner, Administrator, Equipment Manager, and more—all without compensation. His only goal has been to break even financially while ensuring that anyone who wants to play is welcome.
This tribute game was a small but heartfelt way to recognize Paul’s enduring legacy and the positive impact he has had on so many lives.
