REGISTERING FOR HLL BASEBALL:

PROGRAM OFFERINGS & DIVISION SELECTION

 

BASEBALL AGES (STRICTLY ENFORCED — NO EXCEPTIONS)

⇒Baseball ages are used for divisional team placement

  • Birthdate Cutoff: August 31, 2026

  •  

  • Baseball Age / Birthdate Range

    • 7 Years - DOB: 9/1/18 – 8/31/19
    • 8 Years - DOB: 9/1/17 – 8/31/18
    • 9 years - DOB: 9/1/16 – 8/31/17
    • 10 Years - DOB: 9/1/15 – 8/31/16
    • 11 Years - DOB: 9/1/14 – 8/31/15
    • 12 Years - DOB: 9/1/13 – 8/31/14
    • 13 Years - DOB: 9/1/12 – 8/31/13
    • 14 Years - DOB: 9/1/11 – 8/31/12
    • 15 Years - DOB: 9/1/10 – 8/31/11
    • 16 Years - DOB: 9/1/09 – 8/31/10

DIVISIONS & AGE ELIGIBILITY (Ages 7–16)

  • Coach Pitch: Age 7 (No tryout required)
  • Minor Juniors: Ages 8–9 (No tryout required)
  • Minor League: Ages 8–12 (Tryout required)
  • Major League: Ages 9–12 (Tryout required; limited roster spots available)
  • Junior League: Ages 13–14
  • Senior League: Age 15-16

GUIDELINES FOR SELECTING A PROGRAM

  • Register for ONE division only
  • Select the preferred division based on age eligibility first, and then consider skill, confidence, and development when applicable (8-9s)
  • When in doubt, choose the higher eligible division
  • League will reassign players to the appropriate division as needed (or after draft) - register for the desired division when signing up

IMPORTANT NOTE: Players ages 3–6 must register through the City of Hoboken Recreation Department (RECDESK) for instructional programs and should NOT register on Blue Sombrero or TeamSnap.

 

TRYOUT INFORMATION (SEPARATE SIGN-UP)

Tryouts are required for players seeking to:

  • Move up a division
  • Join the Minor League OR Major League ("NEW PLAYERS")
  • Note:
    • Players age 10–12 who are not already placed on a Major League team must register AND attend a Major League tryout
    • Players age 8 or 9 can choose division tryout based on age eligibility, level of skill, and development
    • Players not selected will automatically be placed in either the Minor League or Minor Juniors, depending on age/skill level

Players already placed on a team AND those in COACH PITCH OR MINOR JUNIORS DO NOT need a tryout AND only need to:

  • Register on Blue Sombrero
  • Complete a new enrollment on TeamSnap to join the 2026 league management system
