BrewCrew Are 2017 Mid-Atlantic World Series Champions

BrewCrew Win Opening Game of MAWS With Big Offense

August 25, 2017- 10pm

The game got started quick after Dre Jones and Harry Slade opened the first inning with walks. Jones would eventually score on a two out single by Andrew Clow. EJ Nadolny took the mound for the BrewCrew in this pivotal game. He was able to retire the side in order in the first.

The second had more fireworks for the BrewCrew as Ryan Welling opened up the inning with a homerun to make it 2-0. Nadolny once again retired the side without damage. After a quiet third and top of 4th, Stewartstown got to Nadolny. He left the game with bases loaded and nobody out in a 2-2 game. Andrew Clow came out of the bullpen to stymie the Vets and allow no baserunners to score.

Jones and Slade both reached base to start the fifth, this time with a double and single respectively. Kevin Baron doubled home both runners to take the 4-2 lead. After clow shut down the Vets again in the fifth, the BrewCrew opened the flood gates with three more runs in the 6th. Baron had two more RBIs as Welling, Kenny West and Jones all scored. Steve Cooke came on to shut the door on the game and finish it 7-2.

Jones and Slade went 2/3 with 4 combined runs while Baron with 2/4 with 4 RBIs. Welling went 2/3 with a homerun and double, finally West went 3/4. Next up is Quarryville Baseball who fell to 7 Sports of New Freedom, PA earlier in the evening.

Quarryville Over BrewCrew, Puts BrewCrew in Near Elimination

August 26, 2017- 1pm

With the BrewCrew 1-0 and Quarryville 0-1, a victory over Quarryville would put the BrewCrew into the next round and possibly into the quarterfinals. But this morning was not the answer for the BrewCrew. Despite a fantastic game from Devon Jerrard on the mound, the BrewCrew fell short.

Quarryville put up two runs in the top of the first and that would end up being enough. Andrew Clow would homer in the 4th to bring the BRewCrew within one but questionable umpiring and couple more singles would extend the lead to 4-1. Jerrard finished with 14 strikeouts in a dominant performance. At the plate, Clow, Dre Jones, and Johnny Bandzwolek would each have two hits and Kenny AWest would add one. Next up for the BrewCrew is undefeated 7 Sports.

BrewCrew Defeat 7 Sports to Advance in MAWS

August 26, 2017- 4pm

The Baltimore BrewCrew entered the final game of pool play needing a win by five runs to take first place and advance straight to the second round of pool play. The Crew sent Steve Cooke to the mound. Steve Cooke has been the best big game pitcher on the BrewCrew over the last three years.

Things did not get started quick as the lead off batter for 7 Sports scored to give them a 1-0 lead. But the BrewCrew answered back. Harry Slade reached on a walk and later scored on Clow's sacrifice fly. Andrew Clow scored in the third inning on a pass ball to take the 2-1 lead.

Two insurance runs, one in the 5th and one in the 6th took the game to 4-1. Steve Cooke was dominant after the first, only allowing two more hits and 10 strikeouts. Kevin Baron lead the way offensively with a 4-4 performance and a run scored.

Since the BrewCrew only won by three runs, they will be forced to play in the elimination round prior to round two of pool play. They will take on the York Bulldogs.

BrewCrew Blast Themselves into Pool Two

August 26, 2017- 7pm

The BrewCrew picked up starter Eric Ryan for the Mid-Atlantic World Series and just for this reason. In an elimination game they needed a dominant arm to push the BrewCrew into the next round. After a goose egg in the first inning by Ryan, the BrewCrew put up a ten spot in the first. They allotted nine hits, including doubles by Zach Nadolny (2), Kevin Baron, and Ryan Welling.

In the second, Eric Ryan would suffer an injury and be forced to leave the game. We wish him a speedy recovery. The slaughter continued till the final was 15-5. Brandon Friedland and John Edwards threw in relief. Zach Nadolny, Sean Welling, Tommy Mazurkiewicz, and Johnny Bandzwolek each had two hits.

Next up is the second round of pool play where the BrewCrew will be placed with Quarryville Baseball and the Clementes. The other pool will be Delaware Semi-Pro Allstars, Chesapeake Hooks, and 7 Sports.

Sam Beatty Carries BrewCrew in Shutout

August 27, 2017- 1pm

The pool of Quarryville Baseball, Clementes, and BrewCrew started with Quarryville and Clementes. The Clementes opened with a 7-6 win over Quarryville, which eliminated Quarryville. A win for Quarryville over the BrewCrew would eliminate the BrewCrew from championship contention. Good thing the BrewCrew had Sam Beatty on the mound.

Beatty delivered his finest performance of the season. It started a little rocky. Quarryville loaded the bases with no one out but then Beatty turned it on. He struck out the next two and then a terrific play by Kevin Baron saved the inning. The BrewCrew started strong in bottom of the first. Dre Jones reached on a walk and scored on a Zach Nadolny single.

As Beatty cruised through the innings, the offense added more runs. Sean Welling drove in one with a double. Jones and Andrew Clow drove in runswith a single and a sacrifice fly respectively. Then in the 5th, Kenny West singled home two to stretch the lead to 6-1. Z. Nadolny and Ryan Weling lead the offense with two hits.

With the big win over Quarryville, the Baltimore BrewCrew have a game against the undefeated Clementes. The winner will take on the Delaware Semi-Pro Allstars in the Mid-Atlantic World Series Championship.

Steve Cooke and Co Lead BrewCrew to Championship

August 27, 2017- 4pm

Over the last three seasons, the BrewCrew have turned to Steve Cooke in big games that they needed to win. With a win over the IBL Clementes the BrewCrew would be propelled into the Mid-Atlantic World Series Championship and a chance to punch their ticket to the National World Series in Myrtle Beach. The game started a little rocky in the first as the Clementes had three singles and scored one run in the first.

The game remained 1-0 Clementes till the 4th. In the 4th, Ryan Welling lead off with a walk. He advanced on a single by Kenny West and scored on a Matt Rankin groundout. In the 5th, Baltimore took their first lead of the game. Dre Jones lead off with a single and Zach Nadolny hit him home with a sacrifice fly. The 2-1 lead was looking strong.

The IBL Clementes battled back after a critical error tied the game. Cooke was able to keep the game tied with a strikeout to end the inning. But the BrewCrew's never die attitude was never more evident than in the 6th. First, Sean Welling doubled. Then Andrew Clow drove in the go ahead run. But then, Zach Nadolny hit a huge homerun to take the lead to 6-2.

A four run lead is more than enough for Steve Cooke. The BrewCrew won 6-3 to eliminate the IBL Clementes. The Clementes had a fantastic season, winning the Industrial Baseball League and falling one win shy of the Mid-Atlantic World Series Championship.

The BrewCrew will take on the Delaware Semi-Pro Allstars in the Championship.

BrewCrew Win Mid-Atlantic World Series, 7-5 in Extra Innings

August 27,2017- 7pm

The BrewCrew took on the Delaware Semi-Pro Allstars in the championship of the Mid-Atlantic World Series with a spot in the US Adult World Series in Myrtle Beach. Although Baltimore and Delaware have never faced off, Baltimore has played the Gildea Raiders which have many common players. Gildea defeated the BrewCrew in the 2015 Bridgeton Invitational and three times in 2016 July 4th Invitational. During the 2017 season, the BrewCrew split a four game series with Gildea, 2-2 that included several close matchups. And this last one is no different.

Dre Jones got the BrewCrew started on the righ foot with a lead-off homerun down the right field line and Baltimore took the 1-0 lead into the bottom half of the 1st. Zach Nadolny took the ball in his second start of the season. the Allstars scratched a couple of hits in the first to tie the game 1-1.

After a scoreless second inning, Delaware scored three runs in the third after an error to take the 4-1 lead. In the 4th, a lead-off walk chased starter Z. Nadolny. In came reliever John Edwards in his second game of the tournament. The first batter of the inning stroked a double to right center but a perfect relay cut down the lead-off runner. The batter later scored to make the game 5-1 after four innings. A scoreless fifth left the BrewCrew with bleak hopes of winning a championship.

Ryan Welling homered with one out in the 6th to make it 5-2. After Kenny reached, Andy Welling, pinch-hitting for Matt Rankin, singled to the left center gap to spark some life into Baltimore. Tommy Mazurkiewicz singled to cut into the lead.

Edwards continued to put up zeros in the 6th to allow the BrewCrew an opportunity in the 7th. Down by two and a runner on first, Z. Nadolny came to the plate. He belted a long homerun to allow the BrewCrew to come all the way back and tie the game. Ryan Welling doubled following the homerun but was stranded. Edwards allowed a one out double to put the game winning run at second, but following a walk, Baltimore turned a 6-4-3 double play to push the game into extra innings.

Mazurkiewicz lead off the 8th with single and then Andrew Clow had the biggest hit of the tournament. He homered to dead center to put the game at 7-5 and the BrewCrew's first lead since 1-0 in the first. Edwards remained cool in the 8th, retiring the side in order with two strikeouts in the 8th and winning the Mid-Atlantic World Series.

Andrew Clow was named MVP of the tournament after he went 9/22 with 7 RBIs, 6 runs, 2 HR, 1 W, 2 IP and the biggest hit of the tournament. His performance, as well as standout pitchers Steve Cooke (2 CG, 2 W, 1 S), Sam Beatty (1 CG, 1 W, 1 SO), John Edwards (2 G, 1 W), and others to put the BrewCrew into the US Adult World Series in October.
