Game 1: Gally's won their first game of the year, squeaking by American Legion 14-10.
Game 2, ROMO'S PIZZA's Kosefsky held Lia Honda to one hit until the 5th inning and ROMO'S held off a 7th inning rally to beat Lia by 11-5. A heads up play by Mike Simmons in the seventh to turn a double play sealed the game.
Saturday Recap:
For Gally's, another fine pitching effort by Mike McGlynn. Jeff Prescott was 4-4, with three triples and 3 RBI's. Rick Wall was 3-3 with a double and 2 RBI's. Rick Knipper was 3-3 with 2 RBI's. Bob Dial was 3-3 with 3 RBI's. Ken Shaw and John Hughes were each 2-3, John with a double. Steve Hughes had a 2 run HR and 2 RBI's.
For Legion, losing pitcher Kim Burns was 3-3, with 2 doubles and 2 RBI's. Ralph Scunziano was 3-4 with a double and triple. Tim Cronin was 3-4. Joe Conlon was 3-4, with 2 doubles. Eric Nickerson was 3-4. Pat D'Addio was 2-3. Mike Holub, Jim Schwab, and Josh Gelber were all 2-4. Jim with a double.
For ROMO's, Ron Buckle was 4-4, with a double, triple, and 2 RBI's. Mark Slusar was 3-4. Frank Owens was 3-4. Juan Ovalle was 2-3. Bartolo Tiburcio was 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI's. Toby Walters had 2 RBI's.
For Lia, Mark Roy was 2-2. Joe Salo was 2-3, with a triple and 2 RBI's. John Giarrusso was 2-3.
Sunday, June 2:
In Sunday's game, a short-handed ROMO's continued its winning ways to go to 4-0 and knock off Action Transportation 16-10. This was our first game ever at Harriet Myers Field in Albany.
For ROMO'S, Julio Feliciano was 4-5, with a double and 2 RBI's. Frank Owens was 4-5, with a triple and 2 RBI's. Bartolo Tiburcio was 2-3 with a 3 run HR. Ron Buckle was 2-4. Mark Slusar was 2-4 with a triple and Toby Walters was 2-5.
For Action, Steve Gatt was 3-4 with a double. Paul Peters was 3-4 with 2 triples. In his league debut, Tim Walters was 3-4. Gary Onderdonk was 3-4 with a triple and 4 RBI's. Gene Itri was 2-3. Dan Daigenault was 2-3 with a double.
Play of the Day goes to Tim Cronin for a nice running catch toward the line in right field. Honorable mention goes to Mike Simmons for his nifty fielding at 1B for ROMO'S.
