2020 RGSL COVID UPDATE
Dear Riverton Girls' Softball League Players, Parents, Coaches, Staff, Sponsors, Community Leaders and Business Affiliates;
AS WELL AS
League Administrators, Coaches, Players, Parents, Staff in the areas of Rochester, Athens, Ashland, Mason City, Pleasant Plains, Petersburg, Sherman and Springfield:
In regards to Governor Pritzker's daily briefing of Tuesday, May 5th, I regretfully must inform you that Riverton Girls' Softball League has decided to cancel our 2020 softball/t-ball season to abide by the measures that we all have to take to get rid of the evil virus that is COVID-19. It comes with a heavy heart to have to surrender our season, as I know that many of us (myself, included) were so looking forward to watching the kids play ball. However, our first and foremost priority is making sure that everyone is safe and healthy, that goes for our players, our parents, our coaches, our staff and our spectators which includes younger siblings and grandparents, not with just this season but all seasons.
We had high hopes of holding out as long as possible to have a season and regain some sense of normalcy for the kids' sake. Yet, when Governor Pritzker announced that sporting events, festivals, groups of more than 10 would not be allowed until the final phase (the fifth phase) of reopening [the third phase doesn't start until May 29th], that shattered our dreams as I am sure it has many of our little ones that were looking forward to playing.
For those who registered through Riverton Girls Softball League for the 2020 season, I will be at Center Park in Riverton (directions: https://www.leaguelineup.com/location.asp?url=r-g-s-l&locationid=1624344) this Saturday, May 9th from 4-5pm and on Sunday, May 17th from 4-5pm to give parents and sponsors who have paid, their refunds. If you chose the fundraiser option at registration, PLEASE BRING TICKET STUBS and THE MONIES/CHECKS COLLECTED for those tickets as we are still going to have our fundraiser. If you do not have the ticket stubs/monies; those tickets will be BLACKED OUT and will not be allowed any winnings should those ticket numbers be drawn in the contest (rules still apply https://www.leaguelineup.com/miscinfo.asp?menuid=34&url=r-g-s-l).
If you have any questions, please feel free to text or leave a voice mail message at 217-971-8651.
In practicing safe protocol, I will be wearing a mask and handling refunds through the window of the concession stand at Center Park. Should a line form, we ask each of you to please remain 6 feet apart at all times. Again, I am sorry for this disheartening news. We hope to see you at next year's registration dates. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.
In the meantime, please stay healthy and happy during this health pandemic. We are all looking forward to 2021 being a better year with good luck and fortune for us all. Take care and may God bless you and your families!
