I hereby apply for a position as stated above. As a condition of my volunteering, I give permission to Aston Valley Baseball League to conduct a background check, which will review any criminal and/or child abuse records maintained by governmental agencies. I understand that violations of my responsibilities and/or the Code of Conduct, may result in disciplinary action by the Board of Directors of Aston Valley Baseball League.
I understand and agree that I, as a representative of Aston Valley Baseball League, do not have a license to do as I please as I carry out the duties with my team. I am aware that I am working with the youth of our community and that restraint may sometimes be necessary. I also understand that if I am approved as a manager, I may seek other people to assist me: scorekeeper, team parent, coaches or assistant coaches. I understand that I am responsible for their actions as well.
I understand that using crude, abusive or obscene language or gestures toward players, coaches, umpires or spectators is strictly forbidden. I understand that part of my responsibility as a league representative is to discourage this conduct at all times. I understand that corporal punishment is illegal and AVBL is obligated to notify local authorities if it is used. I understand that if I am suspending a player from a game that I must notify the division commissioner, as stated in the rules, before suspending that player.
I understand that any disrespectful treatment of umpires will NOT be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to, abusive or rude language, ridiculing or laughing at a call, aggressive questioning or any other behavior that is considered disrespectful.
I understand that I am expected to arrive at the field on the day/evening of my team's scheduled game early enough to dress the field for play. I understand that I am responsible to ensure that all parents fullfill their concession stand and field maintenance duties and that all team families are made aware and participate in fund-raising activities. I also understand that I may delegate some of these responsiblities to my team parent, but I am ultimately responsible for these tasks.
I understand that all equipment given to me at the beginning of the season is my responsibility. If I see a need for additional equipment or need equipment repairs, I will refer all questions to the AVBL Equipment Manager. I understand that I am not authorized to make purchases on the league's behalf.
I/we agree with the above

The environment should enhance sportsmanship and camaraderie and promote self-esteem.
I understand that my responsibities as a manager/coach are of great importance to players, umpires, parents and the league. Since my actions are a very visible example of the participants with whom I am involved, I promise to uphold the standards listed in this code of conduct.

*Do my best to coach and promote sportsmanship, team morale and the fundamental skills and strategies of baseball.
*Become familiar with the rules of my age group and the league which we play.
*Show respect and uphold the authority of the umpires who are assigned to the game and will not hold umpires responsible for the results of the game.

*Always maximize praise and minimize criticism.
*Remain approachable and listen to my players and parent feedback concerning potential problems and ways to improve.
*Cooperate with league officials in the enforcement of rules and regulations and will report any irregularities.
