I hereby apply for a position as stated above. As a condition of my volunteering, I give permission to Aston Valley Baseball League to conduct a background check, which will review any criminal and/or child abuse records maintained by governmental agencies. I understand that violations of my responsibilities and/or the Code of Conduct, may result in disciplinary action by the Board of Directors of Aston Valley Baseball League.

I understand and agree that I, as a representative of Aston Valley Baseball League, do not have a license to do as I please as I carry out the duties with my team. I am aware that I am working with the youth of our community and that restraint may sometimes be necessary. I also understand that if I am approved as a manager, I may seek other people to assist me: scorekeeper, team parent, coaches or assistant coaches. I understand that I am responsible for their actions as well.

I understand that using crude, abusive or obscene language or gestures toward players, coaches, umpires or spectators is strictly forbidden. I understand that part of my responsibility as a league representative is to discourage this conduct at all times. I understand that corporal punishment is illegal and AVBL is obligated to notify local authorities if it is used. I understand that if I am suspending a player from a game that I must notify the division commissioner, as stated in the rules, before suspending that player.

I understand that any disrespectful treatment of umpires will NOT be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to, abusive or rude language, ridiculing or laughing at a call, aggressive questioning or any other behavior that is considered disrespectful.

I understand that I am expected to arrive at the field on the day/evening of my team's scheduled game early enough to dress the field for play. I understand that I am responsible to ensure that all parents fullfill their concession stand and field maintenance duties and that all team families are made aware and participate in fund-raising activities. I also understand that I may delegate some of these responsiblities to my team parent, but I am ultimately responsible for these tasks.

I understand that all equipment given to me at the beginning of the season is my responsibility. If I see a need for additional equipment or need equipment repairs, I will refer all questions to the AVBL Equipment Manager. I understand that I am not authorized to make purchases on the league's behalf.
Managers/Coach's Standards of Conduct and Acknowledgement of Responsibilities
The philosophy of the Aston Valley Baseball League is to educate through activity, to allow the opportunity to participate and learn the skills and techniques of baseball; to ensure the safety of all participants within the league and any league or organizations teams participate and play. The environment should enhance sportsmanship and camaraderie and promote self-esteem.

I understand that my responsibities as a manager/coach are of great importance to players, umpires, parents and the league. Since my actions are a very visible example of the participants with whom I am involved, I promise to uphold the standards listed in this code of conduct.
I will:
*Treat each individual (player, coach, umpire, parent or administrator) with respect and diginity and exhibit exemplary conduct at games and practices.
*Do my best to coach and promote sportsmanship, team morale and the fundamental skills and strategies of baseball.
*Become familiar with the rules of my age group and the league which we play.
*Show respect and uphold the authority of the umpires who are assigned to the game and will not hold umpires responsible for the results of the game.
*Learn the strengths and weaknesses of my players, in order that I might place them into situations where they have the best chance to succeed.
*Always maximize praise and minimize criticism.
*Remain approachable and listen to my players and parent feedback concerning potential problems and ways to improve.
*Cooperate with league officials in the enforcement of rules and regulations and will report any irregularities.
*Do my best to control parents and spectators to ensure a positive experience for players.
*Monitor the equipment to ensure it is maintained and ready for safe use.
*Protect the health and safety of ALL playeers at all times during practices or games.
*Remain at concession stand after night game and last game on Saturday or Sunday until money is counted and stand closed.
