KATIYANA MAUGA EARNS 1ST TEAM ALL-STATE HONORS
Mira Mesa's junior shortstop Katiyana Mauga, was one of only four San Diego Section players named to the 2012 California All-State 1st Team. The following is from ESPNHS California (Cal-Hi Sports):

Despite her team getting knocked out in the second round of the CIF San Diego Section Division I playoffs, it was still an outstanding season for this power-hitting shortstop who has verbally committed to Arizona. Mauga belted 16 homers with 60 RBIs. She now ranks second on the all-time section career home run list with 36 and is well on track to break the record of 41 set by Trina Harrison from Oceanside. Mauga is also on pace to set the section career RBI mark, as she is at 159 after her junior year, only 38 behind the record holder.

K. MAUGA, LEASAU & GARCIA EARN ALL-CIF HONORS
The Marauders outstanding season, with culminated in a final #5 ranking by the U-T San Diego, has led to three players earning San Diego Hall of Champions' 2012 All-CIF San Diego Section recognition. Junior shortstop Katiyana Mauga was named 1st Team All-CIF, while senior catcher Tani Leasau and freshman pitcher Alicia Garcia made 2nd Team.

Tani Leasau was named the 2012 Mira Mesa High Female Athlete of the Year at the Senior Awards Ceremony on June 6, 2012.

2012 U.S. MARINE CORPS DISTINGUISHED ATHLETE AWARD
Amber Ratza was named the 2012 United States Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete at the Senior Awards Ceremony on June 6, 2012.
MARAUDERS SWEEP EASTERN LEAGUE HONORS
After a perfect 10-0 Eastern League championship season, Mira Mesa's Katiyana Mauga (Player of the Year) and Alicia Garcia (Pitcher of the Year) received individual honors. Mauga earned her third straight Player of the Year award. Tani Leasau made the 1st team for the second consecutive year, to join Mauga and Garcia. Lani Vanta (2nd team) was awarded her fourth straight all-league honor, and Quirisa Mauga (2nd team) received her first selection.

The junior shortstop has been on fire at the plate. Mauga has a .520 batting average for the Marauders that includes five home runs. She also has crushed five doubles and has driven in 14 runs to help Mira Mesa off to a 12-1-1 start this season. (from U-T San Diego, 04/04/12)

K. MAUGA CLOSING IN ON ALL-TIME S.D. HR RECORD
After another outstanding season for Mira Mesa junior Katiyana Mauga, in which she belted 16 homeruns with 60 RBI, Mauga now ranks 2nd on the San Diego Section all-time HR list with 36. She is well on track to break the record of 41 HR's set by Oceanside's Trina Harrison from 2004-08. Mauga's 16 HR's in 2012 was only one short of the single season record set by Lisa Dodd of University City in 2003 and Harrison in 2008. Mauga is also on pace to set the career RBI mark, as she is at 159 after her junior year, only 38 behind the record holder. Mauga is headed to the University of Arizona, one of the most accomplished softball programs in NCAA history.
